This whole story sounds likes something straight out of either a Lifetime movie or a Mario Puzo novel. A girl endures a tragic childhood of alleged sexual abuse. She grows up to get caught up in the jizz bizz. She gets involved with a smut director who allegedly batters her. The two of them then seem to disappear from the industry not to be seen or heard from again. Then, a few weeks after all this happens, we hear a report that she's dead of unknown causes. It's like following a porn soap opera. The classic tale of "little girl lost." It just all seems too odd to believe is real.
This is very sad news, indeed. No words suffice, but as others have stated, I hope she is finally at peace. RIP to the young woman we all knew as Haley Paige.

I remember watching her ultrawiredsex vids years ago when she looked really nervous. Whatever the story behind it it's awful when somebody that young goes. rip.
Thinking about the young woman I know now as Maryam Haley last night and this morning, I remembered something I wrote on a thread earlier this year… "For instance, I think that Haley Paige seems like a really sweet young lady: the very troubling things I have heard happened to her when she was younger may contribute to her decision to make money having sex on camera. But once she did, she seems like an exceptionally gentle person. One with KILLER pontoons, too…but I think in many of the scene I saw her do, she communicated not only her sexuality, but her vulnerability…she's kinda hypnotic to me…" She responded, using Chico's account. He also made some flippant, not particularly thoughtful comments, which may be enlightening with respect to some of the events that apparently led to her demise. https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/forum/topic.dlt/whichpage=5/topic_id=96158/forum_id=1/cat_id=1/96158.htm In the last year, I've been very taken with her, mostly for the reasons stated above. Though at times like these, I wonder about the consequences of pornography. She will always be special to me, but the business that produces this kind of entertainment is such that someone with her history of painful experiences could be in peril (cf Mike Quasar's post above). She shared something with me and other masterbators, but where did it get her? This isn't to say that porno is more morally and ethically troublesome than many human endeavors: (it may be, since I have no firsthand experience with it, apart from consuming it). But every masterbator/fanboy should at least reflect on the human costs of this kind of entertainment. RIP, MH.

I feel about as responsible as i do for any troubled person who loses their way, which is not at all. Where would it end anyway, who made the computer you typed this msg on? or your shoes or toothbrush ect ect, more than likely it was made by somebody in a desperate situation who basically lost life's lottery by being born where they were. Everything we do or use in our society has a very real human cost on somebody else.
No need to get defensive, fellas…I didn't say that anyone not directly involved with this situation was in any way responsible for anything… "Everything we do or use in our society has a very real human cost on somebody else." Precisely. This is something worth contemplating, particularly with respect to a type of entertainment that is meaningful enough to you, me and anyone who cares enough to post on a message board devoted to said entertainment… I might say something similar if I cared about shoelaces or toothbrushes enough to frequent on online forum devoted to such.
I was looking through some old threads and in her "retirement" thread many months back I found what I then called "the best non-nude Haley Paige Photo". [ invalid url ] or cut and paste link. http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/5095/haleypaige2cd1.jpg Man that's a beautiful smile. I may not have got to know her - but a day later from hearing the news, it still feels like a massive kick in the guts. My thoughts again go out to her Family and Friends. I didn't want to give into all of the gossip. But as of right now just in case this happens to be true I just wanted to say that my heart goes out to Haley & her family. And I wish her all the best in life or death. She was a sweet person. Teagan

Has anyone looked up the city where she died? Talk about the middle of nowhere. WHat was she doing out there?
The cause of death isn't determined yet. Based on what little is known I'll speculate that she was found dead with no obvious signs of foul play. Or maybe a car accident with no clear cause. The coroner's office told both Charlie @ Fox Magazine and AVN that there were no signs drugs were involved, which means no obvious track marks and no drugs were found near her body. The toxicology report should be in soon and let them finalize a cause of death. As for Chico, he's been out of porn since leaving Anabolic as far as I know. It may be he no longer has connections to anyone in the industry. I wouldn't make much of the police interviewing him: it's likely they always talk to the husband whenever there's a death of a 26 year-old woman with no obvious cause, if nothing else to see if he any idea what may have happened.
Quasarman:What are you saying about the women that are in the industry? In what ways was she exploited? I think a lot of young girls especially in their first few scenes or first years in porn are taken advantage of and exploited which is unfortunate.
Been away and busy for a while, but really sad to come back to this news. Hailey and Kim Kane were my last scene ever! I agree with you Qman, it really does suck to be in this business sometimes. She was a great performer with a very sweet disposition. My condolances to her family and friends. xoxo Devinn
I'm very sorry for her family and those who love her that they've lost someone they cared about. She will be greatly missed. I hope she is in a happier place. Axl
This is a horrible situation that we have dealt with.. I am merely responding as part of her family. I just want this all to hopefully calm. This has been an extremely hard time for us. For her mother's sake, we just want her to rest in peace and I sincerely respect your thoughts for her.. RIP M Haley.. I love you..
I Don't know if you are for real and no disrespect meant to this thread, but from what i read on Haley she was molested as a girl by her uncle and her parents knew about it and did nothing. If that is in fact true her mother deserves no sympathy and deserves to burn in hell

Very Sad news. I knew from watching a behind-the-scenes interview one time how she talked about her childhood and sexual abuse. I was hoping she'd end up with a happier life after eventually retiring from the adult industry, hopefully meeting a good guy in the industry, etc, etc. Very sad news. She was beautiful, and I loved her behid-the-scenes interviews and outtakes. You'll be missed Haley :(
Don't you think you're, perhaps, jumping to conclusions a bit here? You don't even know how she died yet. People do die all the time. Even young people. If she worked at a shoe factory, met her future husband there and ended up dead, it might make the paper in her hometown but virtually nobody would know a thing about it. But because it's related to sex, it's a huge deal. Just another example of how deep our pathology towards sex goes.
RP: your words have always been quite thoughtful, in my experience on ADT. Such as this, from the thread I already referenced… "When I see a woman like that on screen, I really can't help but feel a connection with her. I don't know that I'd call it love but I know she's staring right through that camera and I know she's speaking to whom ever may be watching on a subconscious level and what she's saying. This is rare but anyone who's been watching porn long enough will know exactly what I'm talking about." I don't know precisely how she died. And I did not know her. And I wouldn't call her an artist. However, someone who plays a part in the manufacturing of shoelaces or toothbrushes cannot put a personal stamp upon that product—maybe they can, but neither I nor 99.99% of humanity can detect it and it cannot seriously be compared to how someone manifests their sexuality, whether its a "performance" or not. Even Andrea Dworkin would have to acknowledge this. Your words above indicate that some porn gals have communicated to you in a personal way. I responded many times to Haley, and I'm only suggesting that, since some porn gals communicate something personal to me and are not merely a consortium of three holes, milk- and shit-bags to me, that the evident complications of the creation of pornography give me pause (the Porn News thread about this matter contains many informed comments along these lines, from the likes of Alana Evans and Mike Quasar). I'm just suggesting that folks contemplate the human costs of anything that they care about, particularly if they have a detailed appreciation of that thing they care about. Which it would seem to describe most people who frequent this forum.

I still say that's silly and pointless. Yes a pornstar may touch you in some way but you cannot and do not have any hope of having any real influence on their life be it positive or negative. there is nothing we could have said or done or watched or not watched that would have changed the path for this young girl, even the girls who post here are posting basically as their porn characters not their real self's, we don't know the real people behind the performance and we never will.
not trying to fuck with anyone, but not one phrase that you have written addresses the essence of what I'm saying. which is merely to think and reflect upon the complex ecosystem of consumption and production of this kind of entertainment. In no way am I suggesting that there is a concrete cause and effect in this situation. if Wheat doesn't agree, fine. he/she seems to be a reasonable person.
This is so sad, she seemed such a lovely girl. Stories like this put me off watching porn. If the poeple in the industry can't take any care of one another, who the fuck else is going to?

This description seems to fit the profile of most girls who end up in the sex industry. Aren't these the type of girls that the porn industry has a reputation for attracting anyway?
Everyone in the adult entertainment industry is, by law, an adult. Thus, it's not unreasonable to expect people to be responsible enough to know how to take care of themselves.

I don't really think this all adds up. She get's assaulted by her husband, then those charges are dropped and he falls off the face of the earth. Then, she dies a month later and nobody knows the cause of the events that lead to it. Very strange.

A sad and tragic end to what seems like an equally sad and tragic existence. My heart goes out to all of Haley Paige's/Maryam Haley's family and friends. 25 is just so damn young... Whether she died from natural causes or her death was self inflicted/by the hands of another, no parent should EVER have to bury/outlive their child. When events like this occur, I find myself struggling with how I feel about both the adult industry and myself as a consumer. It's difficult not to feel like you were an equal catalyst for the performer's exploitation and demise. I have always enjoyed adult movies, without guilt. My wife enjoys them as well. It's just that things like this make any half decent person take a step back to look at the big picture. The toughest thing is forming a fair opinion when you don't know all of the ins and outs of the business. (no pun intended.) I am not trying to point fingers, because I'm sure that a lot of people in the adult community genuinely care for the talent's physical/mental well being. I can tell by the sentiments shared on this board. Unfortunately, there is that old saying about the "bad apples" and what they do to the whole bunch.... In times like this it's not easy to not let that color one's opinion. May this poor lost soul rest in peace, may she find the peace in death that eluded her in life.

Still, nobody even knows what the fuck happened, she died but we don't know any details.
For those of us who only "knew" Haley through her performances, she always struck me as a real sweetheart. Whatever personal issues, career choices, family and "friends" people have, one, typically, doesn't deserve to die over them. And, as has been mentioned, 25 is way too young to die. I'm at a loss and profoundly saddened Haley Paige will be missed.
For those who have said all the great things about Maryam: Please read what my family member said on LukeIsBack.com. Its an amazing eulogy of her.. Please read.. Thank you for all the support..
This story almost makes me ill... I am so sorry for her. Those abusing her should be tortured in hell for ever

I read the family post on lukeisback. I'm sorry I don't see how a mother can claim her daughter is "her life" when the girl was raped by a family member and ended up having not one but two abusive husbands.

family dynamics are a complicated thing. I choose to think of the dysfunctional family as being an imperfect chain, always more than one missing or broken link. Edited by - absynth on 10/6/2007 4:36:27 PM

If all this is true, how is any of it the mother's fault?
R.I.P. haley. such a sad story... this is depressing........i was not a super fan but she did so many scenes that she is on several of the DVDs in my collection......i would check out her scene sometimes and i always liked them & derived pleasure from them......now, with this news.....can i do that again? it will feel too weird.......sometimes i wonder if being a porn consumer is morally defensible.....

Children are abused, molested, and mistreated everyday without their parents' knowledge. Are you saying that these childrens' parents are responsible for these crimes? You imply that whenever a child is somehow abused, that it becomes the parents fault for "not doing their job." That's insane. As for choices a person makes as an adult, such as romatic partners, a parent has little to do with that. Whether parental approval has any effect or not is usually determined by the type of relationship between the parent and the child. Human beings are able to make their own choices once they become adults, including whom to date and marry. They are not obligated to abide by their parents approval. I doubt if her mother approved of her working in porn either, but that didn't seem to matter. People need to quit trying to hold parents' to blame for everything under the sun that happens to a person.
