At first, I was thrilled with the quality of the picture and the ease of use but then I noticed something peculiar....... If I am watching something that has a lot of movement on the screen (Like porn) and I put the player into pause, occasionally, when I restart the movie, there will be this odd, flickering, jittery distortion (very slight but definitely present) in the areas of the picture where there is a lot of movement. And it isn't just momentary. It remains until I press stop and then press play again. Then all is well with the picture again unless I press pause again. I'm debating on whether or not I should take this thing back? I think I got a good deal on it ($125). I'm thinking it's likely if I exchanged it for another exactly like it, it might have the same flaw. I really like it except for that. I don't think I'd be willing to pay much more for a comparable unit. Is this a common problem with DVD recorders that I've just never heard of because I've never had one? | RandomPrecision Senior Member Enjoy! 8175 Posts 3/06 | Posted - May 5 2009 : 10:22AM I would assume the distortion would be present in any DVD under the same circumstances but I can't be sure because I haven't really checked any commercial DVDs closely enough yet. I noticed it on my home movies because they were of very high quality and it was easy to see that the distortion wasn't there in the source. And yes. If I just press play and watch a movie, the distortion is unlikely to happen (Or if it does, I haven't noticed it yet). It only happens when I've paused it and then resumed playing without pressing stop. If I then press stop and then restart it, the distortion goes away. [Link] |
