The last movie from Woodman that I really did anything for me was Happy Birthday. With his move to Hustler, PW's output increased tremendously, while the effort he put into staging his scenes, as well as the scenes themselves, declined by an equal measure. He now seems to be in porn solely to make money, not because he has an eye for kink or sexiness like, say, Joey Silvera. Sure, everyone wants to make money, but PW doesn't even pretend it's about anything else. Oh wait, it's also about getting himself laid, my mistake!

There was a very revelatory interview in an old issue of Hot Vidéo. I'm going to post it soon, complete with an English translation.
I agree that he lost his touch (you can also have at look at my modest reviews for more on the same subject).
He seems more obsessed and more workaholic than ever. He still has some great babes, bur they're not so "exclusive", nowadays.

He has lost "touch", but at the same time he recruits a lot of talent other companies can use after him. If he would stop the number of girls doing porn in places like Budapest would drop sharply. Workaholic, wanting to get laid, money-minded only...whatever it be (or all together), he is good for the talent pool.

Woodman hasn't lost his "touch" when we are speaking about finding new girls who want to work for him. They look as great as ever.

But since he is working for Hustler he hasn't made any good movie. Look at the series "Hustler XXX", "Superfuckers" and "Anal Intensive". They nearly have the same content. The girls are interviewed, suck cock, getting fucked in the pussy and then in the ass (maybe there's also a DP or DAP and A2M). But in every scene you see the same positions and the same scenario over and over again. The sex has no heat and is so boring!!!

In my opinion Woodman is not a great director when it comes to Gonzo. But he is very good making porn movies with a plot. Look at the great movies he's making for Private (Cape Town, Madness, Tatiana, ...). That are all porn movies with a plot and which are playing at beautiful locations. That is the real talent of Woodman.

But with his change to Hustler he didn't make more movies like that. I think it's Hustler who don't want to spend much money for such productions (only look at the A/V quality and compare them with the high standard from Private). So he only can make cheaper films for the Platinum series and a lot of Gonzo.
