This is one I'd like to pitch out there for discussion. The average couple (according to research done last year using 500 couples in five countries) screw for something between 5 and 7 minutes. I also seem to recall being told that the average viewing time for an adult movie in a hotel is around 7 minutes, although that may be an urban myth.

Anyway, with a lot of male talent using a bit of chemical help which then delays ejaculation, it strikes me that scenes are getting longer and longer, way over the 20 minutes that used to be average. So:

1. Has erectile dysfunction medicine led to longer and longer scenes?

2. Has this had an adverse effect on the female talent (who get the bejeesus banged out of them for far longer)?

3. Or are the longer scenes a result of a demand for more value on DVDs, so rather than get another two couples in and shoot shorter scenes, producers are using existing talent on&#45and shooting more?

4. Is this what the customer wants?

I ask this last question because I've always thought that the male talent (and no offence here guys) is a warm prop who's only in shot because the male viewer can't be; he's 'my' dick, and I want to cut to the pop shot when I want to pop, if that makes any sense whatsoever!

Answers may end up being incorporated into a feature I'm thinking of putting together for one of my mags.

It's what this customer wants. Porn is about fantasy, and a lot of women (me included) fantasize about the stud with endless stamina. In addition, I think Viagra has opened the door to create a larger male talent pool. This has benefited me, as a female viewer, a great deal. I used to never watch b/g porn because I thought all the guys were repulsive. Now there's a wide variety of attractive men working in straight porn, most of which probably couldn't do so without aid from Viagra at times. So as a woman that likes to watch attractive men fuck attractive women, Viagra has been very, very good to me.

ED medication allows the male performers to work more often. I'd like for someone to explain why an erection that won't go down somehow inhibits ejaculation. I think that's an urban myth. If anything is keeping these guys from cumming, it's that they fuck so much.
If I was a director, there'd be a bowl of little blue pills for the meat puppets to munch on and keep scenes from locking up with flaccid dicks.

Hey Picman. I don't think it's an urban myth. I've been on too many sets over the last few years where the male talent has had to spank his monkey like a zoo-bound chimp in order to cum. And I've been on several sets where the directors have thrown their toys out the pram because the male talent can't cum. And Viagra has been blamed by both parties each time.

If it isn't Viagra, then it's psychosematic, which is even more interesting!

I'm just interested in finding out as many opinions on this one as possible, so thanks Pagoda: I can always count on good quotes from you! You're a bad, bad girl.

Well, if that's seriously the case, there has to be some well-trained peckers in the biz. Seeing that some of the 'studs' in porn can produce mass amounts of cum in their moneyshot, I'd say that "fucking so much" can't always be the answer.

I know that's what they blame it on, I'm just not buying it. Since when does an erection interfere with ejaculation. They may not be able to piss for several hours, which can be uncomfortable, but I've seen several double cumshots by men in their thirties and forties, and think that that's directly attributable to Viagra usage.

ED medication is scientifically proven to inhibit ejaculation in many men.

I like the longer scenes.

Well placed chapters that make it easy to watch (and loop) your favorite activities and positions can be very helpful.

If someone thinks that the scene is too long, they can start skipping chapters to make the scene shorter for them.

It's not the erection that interferes with ejaculation. Viagra makes it difficult for a lot of guys to cum. It helps then you hard and lets them fuck and fuck and fuck without cumming.

Personally, I hate watching a guy who has to "jerk to pop". I've been watching a lot of "older" porn lately where it's completely the opposite. There's no pullout, camera cut, watch the guy jerk off on the girl who's there looking like a baby bird waiting to be fed. The guys are pulling out of the girl, squeezing off their cumshot until they scramble into position for a facial.

I think part of the problem is that the men are working so much (plus having sex outside of work) that they have depleted their sperm reserves... the pop shots have gotten weaker and weaker... and that's if there even is one in some scenes.

There was high quality porn LONG before Viagra, so I don't quite understand why it's needed today?

Really, the average couple's sex is only @ 7 minutes???

Yep. [invalid URL removed]Here's the link to the story. If it was in a tabloid paper, I'd ignore it, but The Times at least has come journalists working for it!

I just think that bad editing and commercial greed has f*cked porn.

Editors don't bother editing anymore and the companies love it as they can sell 4 hour dvds that punters think will be packed full of good shit, but they are actually getting less and less scenes and fewer girls in each dvd.

How many companies were making porn before Viagra? How many movies were those companies making? Now there are a lot more companies and movies, but there arent' a lot more guys. So, instead of doing 2 or 3 scenes a week, some guys are trying to do 2 or 3 scenes a day.

Consider that in the average couple both partners work, they might have kids, might be in less-than-prime physical shape, and might only have a half-hour to devote to sex in an entire day. 7 minutes of actual penetration doesn't sound outlandish to me. Sad, yes. Surprising, no.

Several of the couples we've film have done everything they need to do to make each other happy in well under 30 minutes, and that was with us their bothering them. If you know what you're doing, you don't need more than 10 or 15 minutes, sometimes much less.

Not being in the biz, this always struck me as a question I'd ask the pros if ever I got the chance. Is there no "synthetic" cum? I'm thinking the icing that goes on Toaster Studels, diluted with oil, wine or half&half - something that could look real but still be swallowed by the talent. Let me just say that as a long time viewer of porn, i really am not all that interested in how much or how little a guy cums. I also don't need to see it shooting or dribbling out.

I happen to enjoy the horror genre and they certainly have come up with some creative examples of blood (everything from Hithcock's use of Hershey's syrup in the Pyscho shower scene to actual pig's blood in Carrie to food coloring and bits of chicken livers stuffed into condoms that are exploded to look like a gun shot victim in the most recent "Dawn of the Dead").

Please note that I am not talking about using CGI like they do in some of those virtual sex DVD's.

So my question remains, is there no suitable psuedo-cum?

Pina Colada mix. I'm not alone in abhorring the use of fake cum. The fact that it's done is unfortunate. Let's not encourage them to do it more often.

Hell, I could easily do three scenes a day, but by the third pop, it would probably be a slow dribble or blanks.

So very true though, you make a very valid point. It seems that it's all about mass production, with only a bare minimum of male talent to support the production rate.

I imagine the growth of the internet and pro/am sites hasn't helped matters, as now the talent is spead even thinner.

I just recently moved from VHS to DVD and thought it was a combination of the format letting directors get as much out of a small cast(time/money wise-)as possible, along with viagra which I thought in lot's of cases was a given. It can be a bit comical but the overall feeling is one that you here mentioned a lot. Certain scene's being overly long, dragging on...AND on. On the other hand I think I've read here at ADT about certain company's studs not being up to-snuff but I think they were referring to force per-square inch mostly. I don't have lots of DVD' s but I haven't seen woman's orifice's drubbed like this for that long in VHS even by "Rocco" working with E.A in Buttman flicks.

I can't speak from experience regarding Viagra, but from what I've read, there's often times a sensation of "overinflation", possibly because their dick is literally maxed out, but also because their mind knows it is more erect than it should be due to their true mental arousal -- the body/mind feedback cycle is broken and this throws off their ability to climax normally.

There also may be some of the effect you're talking about -- the guys being able to get it up more often means they work more, means they're empty while performing on camera. However, my impression is that sort of thing can go on without Viagra -- a guy can can fuck X times a day but the number of quality money shots is far lower than X... I really doubt erections are the big limiting factor for most porn studs. Viagra just probably makes it easier to guarantee a full erection every time.

Pills won't work if the guy isn't turned on. The only miracle worker is caverject.

True pills won't work miracles, and have little to do with being able to cum or not. I've seen tons of guys cum with a flaccid dick, and other not be able to cum hard after banging at themselves for an hour. There will always be the mental aspect. From the people I've seen use (no way a needle is going into my dick so these are only obervations) caverject it seems to put so much pressure on them it makes cumming actually difficult due to being in pain from the pressure. I've seen simalar effects on Viagra, only not as much. Viagra certainly has no effect on the amount of cum, or how many times you can cum. That just comes with practice and jerking off, a lot...

Having used viagra and kamagra quite a bit i would certainly say it is MORE difficult to cum quickly.
Your dick is simply less sensitive than it would be with a normal erection.
You just have to be careful with the dose to get a happy equilibrium of a good erection and decent sensitivity.

However, that is more than made up for by having a penis that you feel you could go into battle with.

You feel better when you look down at yourself (more masculine in simple terms)....she feels better because the erection itself is a sign that you are aroused by her....and you feel good again because shes feeling good. Everyone's a winner!

As for scenes going longer than 20 mins?
Scenes in a film are only as long as the director wants them to be. Theres nothing editing can't fix with regard to length (no pun intended).

You are right Bill I have watched older porn and notice the same thing. When u watch 80's or some early 90's porn a guy will pull down his pants and not be hard but now soon as he pulls his cock out he is rock hard. My stamina always comes with my 2nd or 3rd orgasm. But with my first orgasm I will not be a marathon man, there will be a lot of starting and stopping on that firs one.....lol

In mid-scene. That would be like a reverse snuff film... :P

Seriously though, I'd be afraid to pop one of those in my mouth. The FDA is always coming up with some newly discovered complication/adverse reaction/potentially fatal side-effect, etc... what's to say that one day it won't be announced that ED drugs fall into this category? Besides, the 4 hour erection disclaimer sealed the deal for me. :P

I think the reason we're seeing longer scene and longer videos is because of DVDs. If you publish on paper or VHS, more costs more, but it costs the same to press a DVD whether you put 5 minutes of footage on it or 4 hours. If anything, you reduce the amount of time editing. You've already paid the talent, you're already going to pay for the disc. Why spend time/money in the edit bay cutting out footage when you can just put it on the DVD and put 220 MINUTES!!! on the boxcover. Most people are buying by the pound anyway.
