So Camp Cuddly Pines is on HD DVD, its suppose to be the first porn in that form. Value is considered benefit versus cost. Anyway, the HD DVD version is running around $50. Personally, Id rather not pay that kind of money. If you have seen the movie is it really a noticeable difference or only if you have a theatre size screen. Do you plan to partake in HD DVD or are satisfied with DVD and why? Also any new features on HD DVD that were not on DVD? Any long term plans for the upgrading your collection? I do feel that 70s era film porn could really benefit from this format.

Nobody has it yet. Den should be getting a copy in a few days. He will review it.

The price for HD DVD will, initially, be far more than the average person will be willing to pay for porn. But that's the cost of being on the leading (or bleeding) edge of technology. Standard porn DVD's were very expensive when they first came out. Primarily that's a matter of supply & demand. Not only supply & demand between the studio & the consumer but between the studio and the DVD manufacturers.

When standard DVD's first came out, there were so few manufacturers who could create dual-layer discs that all of their time was spend working on mainstream titles. It was nearly impossible to make a dual-layer porn DVD. Now they are pretty much the standard.

Once the HD DVD / Blu-ray format war is over, the cost of creating high definition DVD's will drop dramatically. Shortly after, the cost of creating HD DVD's will be pretty consistent with the cost of creating standard DVD's.

And until then, I'm perfectly happy with standard DVDs.

$50 for an HD-DVD? What company is stupid enough to sell a movie for that price? You can import HD-DVD porn from Japan for less than that.

I'd buy an HD-DVD or Blue-ray movie, but only if it's $10-$15 more than a regular DVD's price.

I wouldn't expect HD-DVD/Blu-Ray movies to be available from many companies in the next year.

Do you realize that just now they are releasing Widescreen movies? Last year almost none of my gonzo movies were available in widescreen.

I don't think the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray war will be over anytime soon. I can see both formats lasting for at least another three years. Both formats seem to have an equal number of movies available. I prefer Blu-Ray at the moment only because my Toshiba player is super slow and annoying to use. The PS3 is very nice to use as a movie player. I just hope they release a remote soon.

I have no desire to upgrade to HD dvd. I am very happy with standard dvd. I only watch blowjob movies, and I am not really interested in seeing some guy's dick in high definition.

The second generation Toshiba HD DVD players are supposedly much faster. I'll be able to give a personal report early next week.

I dont think I will b buying into HD DVD anytime soon. Unless the extra capacity is used to bring us extra features not found on a normal dvd there is not much point.

At least the mocve from VHS to DVD brought such new functions as chapter menus, skip option, fetish menus, behind the scnes, bonus footage, trailers etc which apart from the odd trailer you could not do in VHS. the quality of DVD is good, and I certainly cant complain when I watch a standard film. I dont even have a widescreen tv yet (although I am toying with the idea of buying an HD lcd tv but dont know whether to go through with it nor not.)

I really hpe that the extra capacity will be used toeither add extra features and extend film times etc which wuld make it resonable to pay extra, until then I will stick with dvd!

Back in the VHS era there used to be a saying "We'll fix it in repliciation."

What was meant by that was that VHS was such a low quality format that various picture issues that looked positively unacceptable when in the the 10 bit SDI suite would dissappear into the inablity of VHS to render detail or color.

Most porn will simply look that much worse when shot and delivered HD. For example, HD really shows off just how shabby the picture out of that Sony HDV handicam really is.) But my guess is that most of the people who buy/watch it won't care. If they did, they wouldn't be buying most of what's available right now.

There are those few with the creative and techincal skills to take avantage of HD's significantly higher resolution and more cinematic aspect ratio. Their work will look better than ever.

Savanna Samson on HD: "OK, but where's the High Definition make-up?"

Me, I say it's a boon for "crackne" fetishists.

I noticed something weird. Video that is shot by cameraman is sharp and very clear and colors are good, same cameraman switches to HD camera and it looks so bad!?!? What gives?

thats because all too often these guys are simply shooting in auto mode and have no idea what they are doing technically HiDef requires a lot more ability on the part of both the shooter and the editor.

jusy because it was shot in hidef dont mean jack shit, I have seen shot on SD that looks way better up-resed to hidef than shot on hidef looks when shot by someone who is clueless.
