This encoding arms race is ridiculous. It can only be won by Hollywood if they make the processing requirements so high that present systems cannot quickly decode it.

Even though music is easily copied, people still buy. Other entertainment options combined with general low quality content kill more sales than pure piracy, I'd bet.
