I love porn, but alot of it is not for me. That's cool - same with music, movies, etc.
Except porn starts at the fringes, so you don't have to go digging to find some unpleasant stuff, and we should all be honest about what we are watching. I think most folk have stumbled unintentionally into seeing some porn they didn't want to see, and some of that is fine. But there is some porn that is no good ethically. And this is as hard to define as the perfect ass (Valerie Kaye? Ms. Daniels? The esteemed donk representing Texas? My vote's for Madison Chandler. I love porn) - but
This message board is the best place to do something about the real shitty stuff we see but wish never happened to some abused performer. Over on freeones, I have tried calling out some sadist regulars. I think here there is real discussion.
If there is an actor(actress), producer, or site that regularly abuses performers, we can find a consensus and work towards boycotting them.
I don't have targets - I veer vanilla and don't see the worst, but to start a discussion, the guy from teenfidelity has regularly creeped me out and I don't watch his stuff anymore. There is a percentage of people who like being choked during sex, but it's small. He chokes most ladies (why so much choking, male performers? Not cool) and often comes up on chicks and grabs them on a balcony - in her shoes, I'd shit myself if some dude I just met was overpowering me 15 feet up - i remember are Mattie Border and maddie o'reilly, i assume the Delilah Blue scene was creepy too cause I only saw it once and that lady is a peach. And that's the point - beautiful chicks you wanna see make a go of it can get steered into a bad scene and retreat. I wish I could remember the woman's name - there's a thread in starcrossed of a sweet perfect piece who's first scene was a meat grinder. The only oversight is the market- that's us, so let's oversee.
There are so many inherent dangers for women in the industry, surrounded by men they depend on for employment, and trust their saftey to. We see the bruises, fish-hooks, the fetishising abuse. The performers need the money and no one else gives a fuck but us.
So let's try make the industry better.
If you see someone being hurt and it's sold to you as sex, you should be pissed and we should stop it.

Playing devil's advocate, when does it become abuse? Some women like being treated roughly and are OK with being choked or getting a few marks or being called demeaning names yet you've completely failed to acknowledge the latter two points.
In most cases the performers are told what they're getting themselves into and they sign a release form, effectively giving the producer the green light to publish the material without the threat of legal action.
Saying "the performers need the money" is the most unoriginal thing you could have said and quite insulting as well at that, making them sound like desperate victims who have no choice whatsoever or who are incapable of making independent decisions, in which case they shouldn't be doing porn at all. Porn does limit a porn performer's career prospects if they leave the industry but it's not impossible for them to get work, just work that probably won't afford them the lifestyle they would want to enjoy.
The industry is not run solely by men pulling all the strings. There are many influential women in the industry.
Frankly, you paint this ridiculous black and white picture portraying every woman in the industry as perfect, innocent and naive without any idea of what they're doing when they sign up to work with producers or male performers you perceive as abusive. Sure, some might be but I think you're being rather condescending toward the women who know exactly what they're letting themselves in for and are cool with what's done to them because they consented, not because they need the money.
Before you retort with an accusation that I condone "abuse" or support the sites where it's done, you'd be wrong in that accusation. I personally don't like choking among many things you'd probably regard as abuse. However, as it is all done by adults who consented to do whatever acts they perform, I don't think it's my place to call for it to be banned it or ask people to boycott it either. I just vote with my wallet.
If you'd taken off the rose tinted glasses, you might have appeared more credible.

I've said this before, porn is like ice cream, some like vanilla, others like Rocky Road.

How do you know that?
What if it's cool with the women they are working with?
And? Do you assume that just because someone is bruised during sex that means they didn't enjoy themselves? As for fish hooks, what are your criteria for distinguishing when that act is a problem for the performer and when it isn't?
I don't know what you mean by "fetishising abuse."

How are you defining "abuse" here?

I'm not into the rough stuff myself, but reading the OP I can't help but wonder - what "consensus" exactly are you trying to achieve that is supposed to lead to a boycott? People who aren't into the stuff you listed are already unlikely to be paying for it, and people who are into it aren't going to be swayed by anything written in this thread.

Thanks for responding.
I think the ice cream analogy is misleading. Of course everyone has different preferences, but no one serving you ice cream is getting slapped in the face, for example. If they were, we'd all agree those are shitty work conditions. If a video of a McDonald's employee getting dragged around by the hair showed up on the internet there would be outrage.
Jigglyboobs - Project much? I didn't accuse you condoning anything, I spoke about the portion of porn which is abuse, and you decided I was glorifying and condescending to women. Also, rose tinted glasses means ignoring problems and only seeing the positive - the opposite of what I was doing. Of course there are women who enjoy x or y, but this thread was about the ones who obviously don't. To go back to my earlier analogy, most McDonald's employees aren't abused isn't a refutation of some are. Also, I said I love porn a couple times.
But my fave response - how do I know most people don't like to be choked? I know because I am a human being, and I wouldn't want to be choked. No one I have ever met has liked being choked. Of course some people do, but it is a paraphilia, psychological research has found it to occur in 1 in 10,000s of case and predominantly in dudes.
I feel there is a false assumption that since porn is a paid performance, it's fake, but I always think of if like pro wrestling - a performer improvs with a partner they may have just met, they trust each other to handle them safely. But both industries have folks who shouldn't be given that trust, who've hurt people again and again.
Anywho, disinterest and skepticism noted. Next time I will make a thread like "weirdest things you've seen in a girl's butt" get dozens of responses.

How do I know most people like to be choked? I know because I am a human being, and sometimes I want to be choked.
Is it reasonable for you to assume that your personal likes and dislikes are normative for all or most people?
So, you've asked everyone you've met in life: "Do you ever like to be choked during sex?"
I've met plenty of women and men who like to be choked during sex under certain circumstances.
Do you have a source for your claim that "psychological research has found it to occur in 1 in 10,000s of case and predominantly in dudes"? Other questions: What year did the study take place, how large and diverse was their sample size, and what was the methodology employed by the researchers?
I feel there is a false assumption at play in your OP that most women hate rough sex, and that therefore most pornstars also hate rough sex.

I didn't say you accused me of condoning anything. I worded it as a pre-emptive strike given that a lot of people who disagree with something are accused of condoning certain actions.
Again you haven't specified what counts as abuse. I decided you were being condescending toward women not because of what you perceive as abuse but because you imply that they do it out of desperation or that they've been hoodwinked into being roughly treated. I'm sure it may be the case sometimes but you appear to have taken a brush and made a very ignorantly broad stroke with it.
I know full well what the metaphor means. The problem is that your comprehension is pretty lousy. I was referring to your rose tinted glasses in the context of you looking at the performers as perfectly innocent, naive and vanilla.
How do you determine that the performers "obviously don't" enjoy x or y? Looking like somebody doesn't enjoy something may well be part of the act. Some people may get off on the distress the rough treatment causes them.
Christ, you just don't get it do you? I'd imagine most people don't want to be choked because of fear of death or serious injury. In porn and the fetish scene, choking is done between consenting and partners who trust each other not to maim or kill. You're not looking at the same situations.
Whoop de doo. No one I have ever met has gone into space. What is your point? There's a big world that exists beyond the bubble you seem to live inside.
Did you pull that statistic/research out of your ass to make yourself look credible or clued up? Even if it is a case of paraphilia, so what? Why should it be negated or dismissed if it is legal and occurs between consenting adults? Because you disapprove? I know three women who have been quite open in saying they like being choked or being whipped so hard it leaves welts. I must have been very lucky to have met three women who can be considered to be deviants when your stats say it's a 1 in tens of thousands chance and the majority of such cases are men.
You ask me if I project much but you clearly are the one who projects. You project your sensibilities on to others thinking that because you don't like something, nobody else should and if there are those who like something you don't, you disregard them because they're a statistical anomaly and not relevant.

If I said I trusted you with external links any further than I can throw you, I'd be lying.
Two people have called you out on your statistics yet you have failed to answer them...

If I said I had magic powers, I'd be lying.
Hundred of people think you are a dread necromancer - what say you, sir?
To disclose the awful truth, I have applied availability heuristics and sampling biases to hide that fact most people like not breathing.
More importantly, I have collapsed under the harsh light of truth of whatever that thing those other two guys are saying. Truly, I am the monster.

Uhhh.... The eternal dispute of this site.
From as long I remember myself reading ADT (and boy that was loooooong time ago), this topic was always on the front line. Anon you are not a monster ... it is simply a very complicated issue that has many shades.

MissPornUSA already addresses this, but this smells so much like bullshit I have to chime in.
No researcher has ever said "1 in 10,000s". Not ever.
And in any case, show me the porn study where N is anywhere even close to "one" 10,000...

Danica Dillan, who has shot for sites such as Facial Abuse and Kink's Hardcore Gangbang, had some interesting things to say about rough sex in porn to Entertainment Tonight:
