Let's see if anyone can help me out finding an VHS movie title, which I watched on early 90's, tough the movie itself could also be from late 80's. I'm almost 100 % sure it was an USA movie.

It might prove a difficult task, because I only seem to remember the start of the movie and the first scene:

There's a young woman (blonde) who arrives in the big city (almost certainly L.A.) from her small hometown, to settle there. I'm pretty sure she arrives by bus.

Just after the arrival, she stops some guy asking for a direction. This is important: the guy was wearing a Cowboy Hat. He offers to give her a ride and they end up in the apartment she was headed to (the apartment was property of a friend of hers, I think) and they have sex.

(The guy with the Cowboy Hat MIGHT BE John Dough, but don't take this as a hard fact, because I really don't remember it that well. Perhaps was some other guy).

When the sex is over, the cowboy hat man leaves the apartment, and the blonde make a phone call to another girl -a friend of her-. She explains to her that she's already in town, and what just happened with the cowboy hat guy. The friend tells the blonde to stay away from / to be careful with cowboys from now on.

That seems to be all that I remember from this movie. I watched it perhaps a couple or three times, then I lost the VHS tape it was recorded into, and never could find it after that.

Let'see it someone around here remembers it!
