I am new to DVD and I have a question I was hoping some of the more experienced members could help me with. I borrowed 2 dvd's from a friend (BTW, he has a home dvd player, I have a DVD player on my PC. One worked fine (Country Comfort) and one didn't (Seven Deadly Sins). It seemed my player couldn't read anything off the disc because it kept trying to read it and it just kept making a loud noise while the light kept flashing????
Anyway, I am a little cautious about ordering any DVD's because I don't want to get stuck with something I can't watch. Has anyone experienced a similar problem with their player, or more particular Seven Deadly Sins?
My PC DVD player is the Pioneer 104S slot-in drive.
Also, I have noticed on some sites that they have older movies listed as "New Releases" probably becasue they are "New" to DVD. Is there a site out there that gives original dates of movies so I know exactcly what I am buying? Thanks for any help. Sorry this is so long.

1. DVD-R0Ms - many people have had compatibility problems with 'em. You'd have less problems with a stand alone DVD player.
2. Seven Deadly Sins - there was a thread in the past where someone mentioned problems with this particular title:

3. For some stores New Releases = New Arrivals, others New Releases = New DVD Releases. [url=360646]Adult DVD Empire</A has the best product info. They have original release dates for many titles as well as DVD release dates.
I usually just check their VHS section if I want the video release date.

Welcome to ADT! I can't speak for too many vendors, but the few times I have experienced a problem with a DVD, I sent it back to the vendor, and they replaced free of charge. You may wish to try that route if it becomes a problem.

I have bad news for you. If you get another copy, the same thing will happen. That's because it's dvd-rom. Dvd-rom were not invented in mind to play dvd movies. They don't play a huge batch of them..trust me..I have been through it..I have done tests..I have spoken with technical employees at Sony..and I have done so much questioning and posting here and there. Really, if you want a flawless experience without hitches..get a set top dvd player..and just forget about that great image on your computer. I know it hurts, being that the image looks so amazing, but what counts is not having the hassles of buying a disc and not knowing if it works or not. It's like russian roulette. You're taking a chance. Funny thing is...all dvd-roms are not the same! Meaning..that title that didn't work on your old dvd-rom, will work on your newer dvd-rom..and the title that works on the old dvd-rom..will not work your newer dvd-rom! Know what I mean.
