| Posted - Jan 19 2006 : 2:21PMGot this suggestion from Drew so I'm asking how do you make pictures smaller. As of now the ones I have posted are pretty big and need to reduce in size some so any help would be appreciated. I tried reducing the size of the picture but I don't think that's worked so yeah I'm very new at this picture thing, it's great but could use some help! [Link] |

When you are using jpg you can adjust compression. When you shoot a normal picture with a digi-cam you get jpeg's with 2-4 MB size (not much compression). When you use a tool the save them as jpeg's again you can set a high compression that makes this pictures 100 or 200 kb small. that's about 10-20 times smaller without reducing the amount of pixels. Photoshop is probably the tool for it but costs a lot of money. Unless you got a LE Version with your scanner or so. free tools
search for image compression and you get a lot of answers. [Link] |

If it's just one picture, or if cropping is needed, I use GIMP.If it's a bunch of pictures like some DVD screenshots, I use one of the batch processing tools in ImageMagick. Both are free and available for Windows. [Link] |

Thanks to all for your fine suggestions but working at it all day I found I already had the solution inside this ole computer so I've been working hard for the past half hour resizing pics and then redoing my picture album and it's turning out beautifully. Again all the credit goes to the lovely ladies who graciously posed for me and thousands of others a couple weeks back! You were all great and I thank you. Shout outs to Drew and all who posted in this thread. Another reason to love ADT!! [Link] |

If you have WindowsXP, you can use the Image Resizer powertoy which you'll highlight the pix, right click, choose "Resize Pictures", pick your size and be done with it... no external progs necessary... the quality and filesizes are decent enough.I use it for quick-and-dirty stuff -- emailing, etc. [Link] |

It does batch resize, but I never used it for this purpose. [Link] |
