Can anyone clarify which versions are available of "The Fashionistas"? So
far I have seen the following info. regarding this movie:-

Version 1:- In the English magazine 'Desire', there is a report on the film
which states that it comes as a 4 disc set (3 DVD's and 1 soundtrack CD).
This appears to be an R18 certificate version, which presumably means it has
been cut by the BBFC - Yes? BTW, am I correct in thinking that UK Customs
have been 'thieving' this movie?

Version 2:- A supplier which advertises in 'Desire' magazine has a
"USA-Import" 2 disc version which they claim is "totally uncut" and has run
time of 280 minutes.

Version 3:- Another supplier has "The Fashionistas part 1" which is branded
as a 'Shiva' release and has a run time of 140 minutes. I assume this is a
single disc release? Is Shiva the European distributor for this movie?

Also, a report in 'Fox' magazine states that the film contains pissing but I
have not seen any mention of this elsewhere - Is this the case, and is it
cut from any versions? Is the full US version cut compared to the full
European version?

Ultimately, what I am looking for is the full, multi-disc, uncut version,
from a UK (or mainland European with UK dispatch) supplier - Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help/clarification

I can't confirm 100% on the Fashionistas specifically, because I haven't bought it. But the 3 variations you describe are reasonably normal for an Evil Angel title. The original and complete version will be the American one (always, I would say). The R18 version may be cut, and will very likely be re-authored, so it might not have all the extras etc. The Shiva releases are Dutch I believe (could be wrong, might be other Euro country). They are less likely to be cut, but are almost always re-authored.

Basically, if the want to full works, go for the US version. This is what you'll get by buying from a US supplier, naturally, such as Lasers Edge etc. If you want to get it from someone who dispatches from within the UK, that's more tricky. Try Stateside DVD UK. If you look for the sticky thread on this forum, about recommended suppliers, you'll get some help there.

Struan, I saw your post on RAME and put a reply on there, though I haven't got conclusive answers to your questions.

The only report of a Customs seizure* was in this thread here - I haven't heard of any others. Odd that it came from a one-off poster, but that might not be relevant.

Anyway, I'll leave it up to others who've ordered successfully to comment on that aspect, but AFAIK the one and only full version is that from Evil Angel in the USA and it comes in a superb package. If you are keen to get it, I'd suggest a courier shipment would be worth the money to ensure safe delivery.

The film doesn't contain pissing, though from the audio commentary a scene of Taylor fisting Bella was deliberately not included by John Stagliano for legal/distribution issues. This still means the US version is the full version as it stands.

* This involves goods being stopped, not Customs officers having a fit!

The US version is the FULL version, as we did not include the fisting in any VHS or DVD versions.

280 minutes IS the correct time of the movie, but the version released in the US had this on 2 discs for just the movie, plus the 3rd DVD was a disc of 4 hours of extras. And we did have the audio CD.
So I'm torn between your choices of #1 or #2.

Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with the options available in the UK, but Gabriel is most likely right.

Thanks for taking the time to give us the definitive answer, Tricia.

Where did Fox come up with that stuff? So much misinformation about porn.

I'm not bothered about the soundtrack CD, but I would definitely like to get the 3rd 'extras' DVD. I will contact the supplier of 'version 2', before risking an import, as they claim it is the full US version, but they do state 2 discs only, which suggests the 'extras' disc it missing :( I’ll see what they say though.

BTW Gabriel, re. your RAME reply, do you have the US version, and if so,where did you get it?

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply.

Much appreciated.

FWIW, from the BBFC website:-

'When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 278m 32s.

To obtain this category cuts of 25m 22s were required., some or all of these cuts were substitutions. The cuts were Compulsory.
Cuts required to asphyxiative and degrading/dehumanising sexual practices to obtain an 'R18' in accordance with BBFC guidelines and policy.'

Looks as though the R18 version is one to avoid!

Struan, let's just say I got it from a friend - that's why I will leave comments on the success or otherwise of importing the title to someone who's actually bought it via any one of the various shipping methods on offer.

I was very surprised to hear in the past that this movie had been seized, not because of the content (which clearly features a lot of stuff that has, as you point out, been considered unacceptable for us poor meek Britons to watch), but because it's quite rare to hear of goods from the US being seized. Customs charges, maybe, but seizure seems uncommon from what I read here, at least.
