I watched the Wicked movie "Tattle Tale." I was looking forward to it because it had Jessica Drake, Kirsten Price,Dylan Ryder, and Monique Alexander. Jessica Drake had 2 scenes but each of her scenes only had two positions and the entire scene lasted 7-8 minutes. What's the point? I'm trying to figure out who Wicked is trying to appeal to. People who watch Cinemax and want to try porn? Seems like a weird business model.

They are trying to appeal to fans of features. There are many of us on this side of the forum. My problem with most Wicked features is that the stories aren't strong enough and the sex scenes are too conventionally porny.

I agree BlackSix. There are a few Wicked films that just about make the mark but a lot of them are weak. Regarding story porn I prefer the Brazzers or Bang Bros type. My friends hot mom/Mommy got boobs/My first sex teacher. Even some of the Milf Soup/Tits Ahoy/Cheating housewives stuff from other studios can be good.

Blacksix and Brummie- I appreciate the feedback. I'm one of those guys that fast forwards. I forgot about the movie watchers. Thanks.

5-7mins??? Awesome! I almost don't believe it -- most Wicked scenes go on for 30mins.
I agree with blacksix -- they're appealing to fans of features. No mystery there. However, the weakness of the movies themselves, as noted, is in my opinion a fairly recent development. I don't know if it's the changing market, the departure of David Stanley and his creative energy, or a combination, or something else. But it's been a while since I have actively sought out a Wicked flick, and it used to be pretty much all I watched. I mean, think back, waaaaay back, to 2007. Operation: Desert Stormy was great, and then before that in 2005 they put out Powertool Massacre which almost single-handedly got me into porn. In between all that Stormy was putting out great little rom-coms, and Stanley was doing his thing. It makes me sad that things seem to have taken a more mediocre route.

I timed the ones in 2040, and each one came to 25mins.

So were you referring to most of the sex scenes in 2040, or most Wicked scenes in general? (Your earlier post made me think the latter.)

^ I was responding to the idea of Wicked sex scenes as being 5-7mins long, which obviously isn't the case. Often Wicked is criticized for having softcore or short scenes -- I was rebutting that. It wasn't meant as a criticism, even though I don't like overly long sex scenes.
Anyway, the 30min reference was to the estimate I've always had, which prompted me to time the scenes in 2040. What is the average Wicked scene length? I'd be interested to know.

I don't know what happened either. They definitely lost a unique voice when Stanley got the boot and then added insult to injury by filling his spot with bland directors (i won't mention names, but one of them totally killed my lust for him as a performer with his creative mediocrity).
Whatever spark existed for me 5 years ago is gone. I guess once u figure out Armstrong is on auto-pilot most of the time and you're not clicking with Daniel's stuff or Raven's, it's time to move on. The only one i'm interested in watching would be Morgan, but i've read some pretty mediocre reviews so i didn't bother to try them.
Hadn't paid much attention to Wicked over the last two years, but Barrett Blade is directing for them now? Any opinions on his work? Is there anyone directing at Wicked who is fucking their porno-disney formula just a teensy bit?

The style Wicked uses goes back to the 70's & 80's IMO. For bang for your buck, plus scenes short enough to not take your mind away from the story. Unfortunately the more modern version has also given way to couple's porn, which is really what Wicked and others similar strive to be. Porn that both a man and woman can sit down and watch together, often with an artsy/artistic angle that unfortunately tends to kill the heat in the sex scene by not offending the women but overly teasing men. I don't really have a problem with the idea, but the execution tends to get lost in translation.

I recently grabbed a trio of Wicked discs from the ADT screener list and most are a slight step up from some of the stuff of 6 months or a year ago. I'll mini-review these new titles, all of which receive !!! outta !!!!! on my scale.
(By the way, a typical Wicked sex scene seems to be about 13 or 14 minutes and I'm basing that on all the bonus scenes that have appeared in the Special Features of recent stuff that I've reviewed)
TEACHERS PET---Stormy directs Gracie Glam in a little thriller. I would have incorporated more of Gracie's blowjob skills into this tale because that minimizes the condom use that so many folks seem to bitch about. No surprise here: Stormy sticks a sex scene (Ash Hollywood and a guy) at the front end before Gracie's character hardly says a word. Losing that sex scene (sticking it in the extras as a deleted scene) would have tightened the story and put more focus on Gracie, duh, that gal that graces the DVD cover!
COUGARS TAKE IT BLACK---I've hated recent Jonathon Morgan "comedies" but this one seems to work because it's more of a vignette thing set up by three different cougar characters conversing over cups of coffee. In other words, Morgan didn't have to come up with a beginning, middle, and end. (And maybe that's a good thing) A star emerged from among the cougars (Raquel Devine) so give her more to do in some future MILF flick whether it be a sequel to this DVD or whatever.
A TOUCH OF SEDCTION---Brad Armstrong directs an all African American cast for the Wicked Passions line so this one isn't a feature but the sort of art core thing that Kendo keeps making for Daring! The good news is that a deleted scene appears in the Special Features and I'm hoping that Armstrong finds a way to put more deleted scenes into the extras of future productions that he directs. For example, I can name a sex scene from 4SOME that truly belongs there and similar scenes are easily found in other Armstong directed discs.
Um, what are some of the best features written by Stanley?

How many people here who care about the plot would rather buy a Wicked movie than a mainstream one? If you want plot, watch a real movie with real actors. I thought those of us here want to see sex. It's the sex I care about. I think it's stupid to worry about a sex scene "taking you away from the plot"....in a farking sex flick.
My issues with Wicked are as follows:
1) Scenes too short
2) Redundancy and/or lack of quality male talent. Randy Spears is like 50 years old. He might have been amazing when he was in his 20s and 30s. Ditto Brad Armstrong. Looks like they may be improving in this regard lately, though.

Both mainstream and porn have their pluses and minuses, but mainstream features simply can't show much sexually, especially explicit sex, without getting a NC-17 rating. NC-17 films simply won't get shown in most mainstream theaters. Although I generally find mainstream film more erotic than porn, porn simply doesn't have mainstream's restrictions when it comes to explicit sex.
I not only love the idea of sex and story, but actually really prefer it. I feel I've seen hundreds of films that mix sex and story very well, unfortunately modern porn seems to produce way too many stinkers. Things do appear to be changing, although I haven't sampled nearly enough newer material to truly believe.
I've never been one to believe that sex scenes have to be overly long to be affective. Short scenes often deliver very restrained scenes though, probably more because the filmmakers have no real passion or desire to shoot them IMHO.
I don't have a general problem with Brad Armstrong as a performer, and have none with Randy Spears, who I consider top knotch at even around 50. Some films or ideas simply call for older talent, even though age is often ignored. There is simply way too much talent out there to be using the same talent all the time.
I've never been a big fan of contract performers or excessively repeat performers. I think it tends to cause and build complacency or boredom. Wicked, and most other companies, look like they're finally willing to really mix-it-up more, which would be a welcome change for me.

Thankfully, I don't have to choose, so my answer is that I enjoy both for different reasons. Mainstream movies do not involve "real" sex for the most part, and I enjoy genre flicks that involve sex and sexual scenarios as the motivating narrative factor. Hardcore is my preferred type of this genre.

Yea, the last few NC-17 flicks that I actually saw in a movie theater weren't even made in the US: ROMANCE (France), Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN (Mexico) and EXTERMINATING ANGELS (France).
I tend to pick on Wicked because they at least have the technical resources to do better; their current writers/directors just leave me scratching my head when really all they need to do is update a few plot devices and such from classic porn titles---TB
