| SFan Member 12 Posts 12/99 | As much as I enjoyed the lush photography and many-faceted storyline of "Debbie Does Dallas", I don't think the film is entirely successful as a complete work of entertainment. Don't get me wrong, I immediately connected with the lead character, Debbie, an innocent cheerleader who works at a sporting good shop run by a guy who looks kind of like Billy Crystal, but I felt the character's motivations are flawed as they move through the film. The sporting good store owner pays for the entire cheerleading squad's trip to Dallas (they never actually *get* to Dallas, so the title's a cheat!!) just for one night with Debbie? That plot twist didn't make me sympathize with Debbie. Also, there are a lot of naked people in this. I couldn't believe it! I am in no way a *prude*, but the amount of nude men and women was shocking! Not the kind of movie I'd expect from the "work out" section at Blockbuster. Anyway, great soundtrack and photography (many of the shots, such as the wet T-Shirt car wash) obviously influenced current directors like Jim Jarmusch and Merchant/Ivory.
