It's been a real rough last few months. My wife left me and took my son,as you can imagine I've been in the dumps and somewhat suicidal. My doctor put me on high blood pressure meds and high cholesterol meds and I have noticed my sex drive is almost completely gone.Even when I watch porn that used to get me hard fast it now does nothing, really NOTHING sexually excites me.Which would be OK but I'm lonely & I'm seeing a girl next week that I really like and can see her being my GF but I'm afraid if we have sex and if I can't perform she might think I don't fancy her or that something is wrong with me and she will not want to see me again. I talked to my DR and she said it's likely a combination of the meds and my depression and she suggested CIALAS ( the one that lasts for 24 hours )but I only bought 2 pills as they were $26.50 (!!!) EACH! This girl is staying for several days.My DR also suggested if I'm not able to perform to explain to the girl why and that there are other ways to please a girl ( oral sex,ETC ) so maybe if we start making out & it leads to the bedroom I'll eat her pussy first. I have never NOT wanted to have sex this bad! I feel like my stress is going to kill me. ANY ADVICE?
Diet, exercise and biofeedback are better than pills for cholesterol and high blood pressure unless you have some specific condition causing them (familial hyperlipidemia, etc.). Doctors prescribe pills because patients are lazy and doctors want patients to come back for more pills and monitoring, which equals money for doctors. I see this all the time. Patient has some minor non-lifethreatening issue, doctor prescribes pills, patient has side effects, doctor prescribes pills for side effects, patient has more side effects and gets sicker and less active and depressed, doctor prescribes more pills, etc. ad nauseum until patient is on so many freakin' pills they end up in the emergency room for medication toxicity. My advise is to quit taking the pills and kick your doctor to the curb and find another doctor that will help you modify your lifestyle to increase the quality of your life and health.
Yeah, dosing your body isn't going to get your head straight, so dump the pills and work on your attitude. PS - Sounds rather early to be chasing tail. Nobody wants to be the bounce-back. Edited by - hardware on 12/22/2012 4:09:55 PM
Sorry to hear about your wife leaving you with your son. Something like that can take a long time to recover from. I too take blood pressure and cholesterol drugs, but I use generics since I don't have insurance. I use Diltiazem for blood pressure and Simvastatin for cholesterol and have not suffered the side effects that you have. Taking a pill to fire up my engine is not something I ever plan on doing. I hope that everything clicks between you and your friend and she's able to help you feel good about yourself again. If that happens you won't need to take one of those pills.
Doctor tried prescribing me some pills for mild hypertension some months ago. When I told him I wasn't even going to get the prescription filled, much less take any of the pills, only then did he suggest a change in my lifestyle (diet and exercise). I had to remind him that my current lifestyle activities are intended to increase things such as blood pressure, which is when he put his prescription pad away (He's old and he sees a lot of patients, so sometimes he needs reminding). Kimi is absolutely correct in saying you should find a doctor who's interested in actually helping you achieve the things you want. Take the time to find one who'll do so. They're worth it. If you haven't already realised that there are both pharmaceutical and psychological factors at play here, hopefully you will soon. Get the right doctor(s) working in the right areas to help you with this.
One more thought - evidence is starting to turn up that some cases of high blood pressure may be caused by sleep apnoea. If anyone has ever told you that you snore when sleeping, it's worth getting tested for apnoea problems. It may be that a CPAP mask for sleeping could fix your blood pressure without meds. Plus, I fully endorse Kimi's comments about diet and lifestyle changes. Caveat: I am not a doctor and am not qualified to advise you about any of this stuff. It's just a thought.
