My personal project is a fairly professional film
Made of myself with a friend. I'd love to rent an equipped studio space for 1/2 day and hire a camera / lighting person ?

Happy to pay market rates. Any suggestions please in Toronto or Montreal or New York ? Any advice please ? C

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you aren't trolling us so see below some of my musings.

1-Unless you shoot your porn in California or New Hampshire then technically speaking it's not legal and therefore looking for studio space and/or a person to shoot it is not a wise decision.

2-What epic porn scene do you plan to shoot that would need an actual studio when your own house or even a hotel room should do the job?

3-If you have the kind of money that allows you to book studio space and a cinematographer then wouldn't it be cheaper to rent of buy the equipment and shoot it yourself?

Well I don't know what studio space would cost till I find a location ? I don't know if we're talking 100s or 1000s for say 3 hrs. Yes I could buy equipment but I'm only planning one film. Just a bucket list thing for me . I live in Canada snd porn is shot in Toronto and Montreal so I'm happy that it's legal

Not sure my comments are relevant because this happened many years ago. This was when World Modeling was the big agency. A friend wanted to shoot some pornstar. Nothing hardcore. More glamor, with nudity. We met Jim South and he showed us a couple of albums with mostly Polaroids and cut outs from porn slicks (promo adverts for porn flicks). Anyway we had a budget so we asked for someone who could do their own makeup. We surprisingly got a well-known (at the time) star. As complete nobodies, I'm not sure you could do this without tons of references. We actually had use of a friend's studio. It was all settled. It's so long ago, I forget what the fee was. The day of the shoot we got a call telling us to meet the model at another studio where we would have to shoot her. Maybe the model's idea since she didn't know us. It was the studio of a well known photographer who shot stuff he submitted to girlie mags. In way it helped because we got to use the props in the studio. I brought my own studio strobes. Anyway we shot several rolls and they came out fine. We chatted a bit with the pro photographer. He pretty much shot everyone the same. He had his formula, but I think he wasn't very good on the technical. He was making a living, so he was well ahead of me. Paid the model and that was it. I think we threw a bit extra since she did her job well. She was all business, so I felt tense the entire time.
