So what are some recommendations? PLease list brand names, model #'s, prices, etc. ALso anywhere online that is good to buy from. Thanks De  [Link] |

I have removed the cover art pages from my discs and have put them into sheet protectors in a loose leaf binder (with page numbers that correspond to the disc location in the changer. All of the empty cases have been put into a storage box in the basement.  [Link] |

Player also sold at Walmart for $139 with very similar results, and a RCA player I purchased for $199 with the same results. I gave up, and forked over $285 for the Sony 560 mentioned above, and it played every disc the other three players were having trouble with. I spent a lot of time reading Usenet DVD discussions, and most people like the Sony players too. I am very disappointed that some adult discs don't play on these cheaper - but otherwise good players. If you don't want the hassles, you may want to go for a Sony. I used my cdrw, put audio on it, then made it into a vcd and both times it worked in the player. [Link] |
| snowman872 RainCoatReviews.com 400 Posts 6/00 | Posted - Aug 12 2000 : 3:51PM If the Sony didn't play the problem adult discs I had any better than the Sanyo, I was keeping the Sanyo. I had every intent of returning the Sony to Circuit City. In fact, I was very, very suprised things didn't work out that way. I still think the large bulk of the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the adult producers. There was nothing wrong with that Sanyo player. It played about 25 Hollywood discs fine. The problem for a first time DVD buyer (like the person who started this thread) is that they may not own any troublesome adult discs yet. They will have no way of knowing whether or not the player they buy is going to give them trouble or not until they get their feet wet puchasing or renting discs. From what I could tell about 1 in 8 would not play properly on the Sanyo. So, it might be a while before a consumer even realizes their drive can't tolerate adult disc errors very well. Just over the horizon, there might be A LOT of unhappy DVD consumers out there. Snowman [Link] |
