Obviously this was a planned scam, I talked to two other guys now who almost got scammed by her too. I don't know that I would need it because at this point I'm just assuming that 100 bucks is gone for good but I have email confirmations of my payment and screen shots of our chat log, plus Skype saves that and your call history anyway so if I ever needed to for some reason could prove what happened. According to M. Scott Peck, the responsibility continuum goes from neurosis (I'm no good, so I won't try) to character disorder (everybody else is the problem - not ME). We're all somewhere on this continuum, but the most damaging is CD. If everything is somebody else's fault, I don't need to change. The world has to change. (Prisons are filled with CD's. "If it wasn't for that stupid cop with a radar gun, they wouldn't have found the gun and dope under the seat and I wouldn't be spending the next 5 years in this stupid prison".) Lots of money is spent trying to change CD's with very little success. Why should they change, when it's everybody else's fault. CD's aren't born that way, they're made. "Did you hit your brother?" Gee, if I say "yes" I'll get a whooping for sure. If I lie and say "no" there's at least a chance I won't get a whooping. The problem is that kids don't want to lie. Soon, they start to resent the parent. "He/she MADE me lie." They then resent the parent and are on their way to not taking responsibility for what they do. It's not hard for us to see that Hope probably fits this category, although there is very little chance she would ever acknowledge it or do something about it. Skipchurch, you've figured her out. You see through her denial. For her, she really believes it's Henrypins fault. As outsiders, we can all see how easily she could remedy this situation: either give him the time or give him his money back. It's that simple. Simple for us, not for her. [Link] |
