This refers to the VHS version which doesn’t include some of the extras found on the dvd such as a behind the scenes commentary and a "live action" short. run time 60 minutes.

Joe Phillips brings a whole new entertainment venue to the gay genre with "The House of Morecock" an animated feature starring the cute and adorable Jonas Morecock. Did I say cute and adorable? Yes I did, and he is, for an animated character anyway. And I thought Johnny Quest was cute! Anyway, enough of my cartoon fetishes!

Let me get a couple of things out of the way first. It appears that at one time this was an online cartoon. I tried to do some research after viewing this because once it started it only took up a large, square portion of the screen and it appeared to me that it looked like it could’ve been a web cartoon. Well, it appears that may be the truth as I did see a few listings for it but wasn’t able to actually track it down so I’m not really sure if it was pulled off for this release or what. But that has me intrigued some more as I would love to see more episodes! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that!

Also, after viewing the VHS version and then going back to "The House of Morecock" website and re-examining the trailer the picture quality of the VHS is not very good. The colors are somewhat muted and not very sharp as opposed to the bright, vibrant and crisp colors online. A really big difference! I would hope the dvd is as good, if not better, as the online trailer. Oh, and the sound was a bit muffled here and there, but again that could be the quality of the vhs tape.

Other than that, this tape was hilarious and the episodes only got better as they went along. Joe has definitely mastered the gay porn animation that’s for sure! There are plenty of penetration, cum, jerk off, and blow job shots that rival some live action porn that I’ve seen! All the guys are well drawn with slightly exaggerated features and the movements are on the mark. It’s pretty funny to see two animated guys fucking and you get a shot from underneath and Joe has even managed to get the cock and balls moving back and forth as Jonas is taking it up the ass!

The stories themselves are narrated by Joe Phillips himself. I’m not sure if it’s his own voice or his impersonation of Harvey Firestein but that’s who he sounds like and it adds to the humor. Throughout the stories he interjects gay one-liners like, "What were you expecting Streisand?" and so forth. I chuckled quite a bit as did my partner. A couple of times he did speak a bit over the characters or it was hard to hear and I had to rewind it to catch it. But some great quips throughout!

I won’t get into all the storylines but there are a few that really stand out. "Abducted" is a cute parody of the X-Files that include Jonas being taken aboard an alien spaceship that includes a monstrous anal probe, Agent Foxy Muller and Dan Scully and some funny "crop circles"! "Moby Dick" is a spoof on the "Little Mermaid" complete with a well endowed merman and a drag queen fish sidekick and even sports a musical number! We were dying! The others are just as good and feature some funny jabs at everything from Jeff Stryker, Bel Ami models, Bigfoot, Titanic, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and so on. Very, very clever and well done! All of the adventures seem to sport some form of monster or creature, ala "Scooby Doo-ish" and eventually find Jonas in the arms and ass of some hot stud!

Overall a very entertaining, campy and funny cartoon with some great animated sex to boot! I hope Joe thinks about continuing the series or even releases a full length feature as I’m sure it would be a real crowd pleaser! Goodbye Johnny Quest, Jonas stole has stolen my heart!
