OK the user rating idea sucked, but how about instant messaging? It would be fun to nut out with the other users in real time. Think of it as Web 2.0, or something.
I've chatted on AOhelL, when I had it, and I've chatted on Yahoo Messenger, but ditched that. I have MSN Messenger or whatever the fuck it's called now, and I chat with a friend in Jersey. I only got one friend
It's fun.
I've chatted on many other different formats too, but that's another story.

I like talking/typing via messenger, but I once had a full client, on my new email, I only have one friend. The others proved to be a bore, so no loss.
But in the future, when all this cool shit is finished, if people want to chat, and I'm around, I'll gladly chat. I like instant messenging better than PMing anyway. PM system is good, but you don't know if the person is still on the board here. I come and go, come again, and go again.

Are you going to be changing the interface? I liked that new one you tried out for about 15 minutes a year or so back.
That one we tried briefly was a huge mistake. It won't be like that one. They still haven't fixed all the bugs in that software. It was a huge waste of time and money.
You won't have to sift through it. You can set it to automatically forward to your registered email address if you so choose along with a bunch of other nifty things.
You'll have four options to choose from: accept messages from anyone, no one, only users that you specifically allow to PM you or everyone that you haven't specifically excluded from PMing you.
will there be some kind of confidentiality clause where say if someone reposts something from a PRIVATE message in the forum then said message will be mod-e-rated out of existence and the user put on notice/deactivated?

I saw where you said that there would be an option to have PMs forwarded to our email. Would it still exist in our PM box though? In other words, - will there be a way to get an email notification that the PM is waiting?
On a related note: If a PM comes in while we are on this site, will there be an option to get a pop up notification?
I ask because these are options that I've found handy to be able to config for myself on some other non-porn forum sites.
Yes, you might want to reply to the person and the notification email (which could include the contents of the PM) will come from admin@adultdvdtalk.com and not include the email address of the person that sent it to you. (unless they chose to include it in the PM's contents)Not a popup but there will be an icon or text link that indicates new, unread messages are waiting. I haven't worked out the particulars of the user interface yet but there will be an indicator or some sort.

I realize this is a major bump as this thread is old, but this was the thread most relevant to my questions. 1. Is there a working system for private messaging? I see in my profile that it says private messages, but it's unclickable/disabled. I havent' found any way to turn this option on. Do I need to qualify in some way to get to use this option or is it not yet ready? I know about the option to send a e-mail from the forum. 2. Is there any way to see who's logged in? 1. Nope. I haven't spent any time working on finishing it. 2. No. You can't see who is logged in. Only administrators can. I don't have plans to show a public list of who is logged in.
Drew - I don't like to seem to be demanding or anything like that but I have to admit, a PM system for this board (provided that each user could choose whether or not to receive PMs and all that) would be nice.

I enthusiastically second that! That would be great! I rarely read the E-mail associated with my account. Hell this got me deactivated once... A PM system would be ideal. [Link]
Yeah. I was surprised to see some mails from ADT in one of my email boxes not too long ago. They'd been there for ages (in cybertime) and I just never saw them because I don't check my email unless I'm expecting something. Most boards that have a PM system have a display in one of the corners that tells you how many PMs you have, how many are unread, etc. It's just nice to be able to take some things to PM. It's never really an absolute necessity to have such a system. It just helps people out.
