The problem I have is I work sometimes 6 days a week. I also work long hours.
By the time I get home , shower and eat, I might have time to watch one scene that lasts 30 - 40 minutes, before I go to sleep. Unfortunately I can't watch everyday. Life gets in the way sometimes. It might take me a week or two to finish one DVD.
Then I read about a reviewer that has reviewed thousands of films, and I think how?
I can understand a retired person, someone who owns or manages a porn store, and maybe someone who works at home, or lives at home and dosen't have to work. But for the average person out there who dosen't fit into those categories, I don't think it's possible to keep up. I'm sure there are many more like me who can't watch as much as they would like to.
Until someone comes up with a way of loading porn into my brain as I sleep , I'll continue to try to watch as humanly possible.
lol! Good points, Lou. I think that even if I were independently wealthy, I still couldn't watch all the porn I'd like to see. There's just too damned much out there. 90% is crap, but I'd say I still watch maybe 15% of it. Sticking with good companies and directors eliminates most of the dreck, but there's still a lot of bad stuff pumped out even by reliable studios like RLD, PXP, Evil, etc.
I do the best I can, and rely on folks like bono-ONE and those with similar tastes to mine to comment on and review stuff that I might not get to see otherwise.
Feankly, my collection is already too big to be able to watch all of it over time, and I still love renting the newer movies and checking out all the hot newbies. I guess I'm an ideal consumer from the typical studio's standpoint! But hell, I just love porn so much, I really don't care.
I can't consume as much porn as I used to. And I took months and longer between reviews due to being busy working with my brother. Life gets in the way and I can't always finish a review when I'd like to, because something seems to come up.
The funny thing about me is, I can play back, in my head, almost all of the scenes I've seen. But that's all porn I saw 3 to 6 years ago, nothing really new.

Well, let's see here. I'm going to try and answer your question without embarrassing myself. Actually, I have no shame but whatever.
There comes a time when you have to make a decision. What is important to you? I decided that while I'm still young and healthy enough to jerk off every day, porn is important enough to me to give up some other luxuries for. I don't need a fancy house (or even a nice one), car or any of the other stuff that's generally associated with success. As long as I have space to live in, with decent facilities for eating, sleeping, living and watching porn, that's all that matters. I refuse to work myself down to a nub until the day comes that I have to in order to survive. If I can be lazy and still live comfortably, that's exactly what I'm going to do.
So, I'll settle for low wage jobs...as long as I have some options and they have flexible hours. I won't have a low wage employer dictate my life to me. I also have "other" sources of income so I don't need to work as much as some people to live as comfortably as they do.
Even still, I don't watch as much porn as some folks do. I don't know how they do it, honestly. Most of my porn consumption is still photos. DVDs are cool but nothing beats a good collection of stiff photos.
So...my lifestyle is perv. I don't really have a life outside of beating off and watching porn (and talking about it here). I don't want any other lifestyle. If you do, porn may not be the hobby you want to pursue.
Previously, there were only a few pornstars and directors I liked (eg. John Stagliano), so I would just wait for them to put out a new title.
These days, the volume of material coming out is incredible.
Evil Angel has such a good stable of directors now, I find it hard to even keep up with their stuff alone.

I frankly don't know how reviewers have the time to watch entire porn movies, I barely have enough time to watch a few scenes.

It's tough. I usually rent two pornos a week and most of the time I don't come close to watching them in their entirity. I check out my favorite girls and then try to watch the other scenes but I would guess I may view about 60% of the discs.
I'm fairly new to the world of porn. I've been buying loads of stuff lately. I'll admit I've hardly watched any of it. Living with parents still I don't find much convinient time to watch it. I like to watch a porno the whole way through and do a little review. I guess I'd better start watching the odd scene here and there so I can get through it all!

The quest for the perfect porno propels me. My situation is similar to Cumwhipper's situation. I have only watched a fraction of my collection, and I still buy and rent DVDs. Buying online is tough to resist when the prices are so low.
There is a lot of of porn that I would classify as 4 stars (very good), but relatively little is better than that. There are many companies with similar budgets, performers, and practical constraints. Bigger budgets will not necessarily result in better DVDs since a lot of the difference between 4 star and 5 star DVDs is what I would classify as "porno magic", for lack of a better term. The elements of chemistry between performers, appearance and presentation, and technical aspects like lights and videography have to be there. This doesn't happen frequently.
If I ever complain about the current state of porn, I pop in a DVD of 90s porn. In many cases, 90s porn is not as good as I remember. Of course, there are exceptions.
I would love to see 90's (and earlier) porn with today's better video quality. Some of the girls from earlier times had something about them that made them so hot.
I think the biggest disappointment we have when we look at older porn, is we forget how dreadful the video and audio were. That, and VHS tapes that never tracked properly.
There's your problem! For me, I can get through 2 or 3 DVDs in that amount of time. I FF a lot. I guess I'm a quantity sort of guy. Actually, VHS quality wasn't really all that bad if it was well done. Evil Angel was the best at producing consistantly good quality, as I recall. I still have three VHRs from back in the day so I never had a problem with getting a tape to track properly. My trusty old Panasonic played 90% of the tapes I got perfectly. If it didn't, I had a Sony and a JVC as backups.
I'm guessing I have about 400 DVD's in my collection. There probably aren't more than 10-15 that I've watched every scene, and even with those, there's a fair amount of skipping and FF'ing through scenes. For the rest, I pretty much just go to the scenes with the girls I want to see.
If I could figure out how to rip scenes from DVD's and create my own custom collection, that would be kind of the ideal solution for me, because I'm running out of space. I keep meaning to put my bottom 100 on ebay but can't seem to find the time. Plus, ebay is a pain in the ass to work with.

I definitely sympathize. There is way more porn that I want to see than I have time to. As of right now I have 17 porn titles that I own but haven't watched yet. Well, I guess two of them I did rent years ago, but I bought them when I saw used copies for sale cheap, and another is a comp of many scenes that I have already seen in their original contexts through rental. I'd love to see more hardcore porn where the guys are paying more attention to the women's experience. I hate seeing a girl being suddenly shocked by a dick thrust in her face, or mouth, or anywhere. It may be just me, but it seems like if you watch in FF you are almost automatically destroying any chance of enjoyment.

Well if you are talking about sheer numbers of titles, yeah there is a lot. Though, everything has pretty much been done in porn. So there is not much in terms of uniqueness. Same girls, same guys, recycled over and over again just slapping on different titles each time.

firstly, I dont buy the dvds. I rent them. And I rent regular movies from the Video store also. I try not to watch just porn. I like a good porn video once in a while, but it gets boring in excess and its not worth the expense to over-indulge. When Ive stayed a way for a month, ill go to the video store, and rent one. The box covers are huge selling points. If I see a girl thats absolutely friggin adorable, that Ive gotta see, Ill rent the video. no offense, but I dont understand people who buy porn.
