I seriously want to make at least a few amature movies but don't know where to start. Can anyone with production experience give me any serious advice on how to find people to perform in my movies? Do i place an ad in a paper, maybe at the local colleges? How much should i pay a boyfriend/girlfriend each, i'm not sure what the going rate is for one movie. Any other help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks! [Link]

That would give you some experience in the limitations of the medium. Free experience. Post ads in a swinger magazine. Look into legal matters like release forms. Save yourself trouble up front. Don't argue, just do it. You should learn about good lighting and sound. The absence of either negates good camera work. Appreciate your subject matter, even when you don't like the actual subjects that much. This will help you figure out good angles. You might want to watch porn with an eye toward what works and what doesn't - i.e. look at it professionally and not recreationally. Some ideas of the top of my head. I wanted to get some 18-21 year old couples if possible. I've seen some other posts where i can find them. But i think i will listed to Croy and try my hand at camera work to practice first. John Knowles NJ Films 178 Posts 9/04	Posted - Oct 5 2004 : 11:58AM At least your in the correct state. People have their own ideas of what their services are worth so start there. Be aware of your lighting and the action that is happening - action should be facing the light so it can be seen on camera - that's one big mistake allot of people make. You will have to edit out the slow stuff and the parts that just don't "flow". Guys don't always have wood and guys that are not used to being in front of a camera and crew will be even that much harder so that will have to come out of the final movie. Those can be put in a behind the scenes section in your DVD if you wish. But, once you have made you video, you will also have to find distribution if you want to get it out into the world. That will be the harder part. There are so many studios and so much product, that unless you know the buyers and the industry, good luck. Your best bet once you have your title shot AND edited - completely ready to go - is to shop it around to some of the existing studios that also do distribution for outside producers. You may want to do that at the show in January in Las Vegas!! Just make sure to keep YOUR vision in mind as to what you want the outcome to be and stay focused on that! Good Luck NJ Films Inc [Link]

You can find amateurs out there that are interested in this. You'll need money to pay the amateurs, hire a crew (if you need one), and rent equipment. I think the easy part is finding talent and filming. It's what to do after that's the hard part. Editing takes money too, but then how do you distribute it and where? What about advertising? Is it for a website? Your own site will cost money to get started. To make money, it's not as easy as many people think. Getting the actual product in the market is the hard part. Good luck. [Link]
