Just for fun, if i would like to make a porno, what i have to do? first i need actors, ok. What it would cost me for lets say a classic scene oral/vaginal/facial but no extreme or anal sex etc. Price for womens i mean, for men i think i could have some friends that would do it for free. Second i need a camera etc but thats ok with that. What i have to do for my movie to come out and be release. In a few word, how a porno would cost to make for an average guys like me.

For the girl lets say average great looking women, no big star a la kristal steal or jenna jameson but not the girl next door, a pornstar know.

When I hit the lottery, I'm coming to Chatsworth to make a few gonzos with all of my favorites!!! I'll be paying the girls and the crew more than what these greedy bastards pay.

Knowing you've produced a quality porno movie... priceless
(yes, I know it was corny, but I couldn't resist).

The economist in me always finds ways to save money. I'm guessing you can probably cut out most of these costs by finding other ways around them.

Location: There's no need to have fancy location shoots. Save the money on location costs by shooting in any vacant space available that will ensure you privacy, such as a motel room, an empty office space, someone's house, outdoors, etc.
Make-Up Artists: Save the money on make-up artists by having the girls do their own make-up.
Female Talent: You can use the movie "The Pornographer" as a good example. In that movie, an amateur porn director starts his career by using prostitutes who didn't charge him as much money as "porn stars." It was enough to get his product noticed by industry studios, though it had a tragic ending. Either that, or you can probably just put out ads and see how many women respond. You might even find some who will do it for free. Just don't forget to have them sign consent forms so they can't sue you later.
AIM Test: You'll definitely want an STD test. But if you're brave enough, you can always forgo that and just use condoms.
Camera Guy/Stills Guy: There's no reason why you can't just join the current trend of shooting a POV movie. You'll be performer, director, and camera guy all in one. Another way to save money.

An AIM test is still necessary. Even condom-only companies require tests.

Well,I just read Dudes opening thread and as a noble of an
effort it might be to bless us with his version of porn;he
willfully states,"no extreme or anal sex etc." Its hard
enough trying to get some amatuer stuff out there and make
it sell in this over saturated adult market;and with the
abscence of nasty hardcore butt sex;this venture doesnt
look like a good look on the outset.Conservative sex in a
market of extreme gonzo is not good marketing or profitable
business.

It can work, but you will just need a gimmick to promote it. The proof lies in all these countless websites that feature amateur girls and no anal or extreme sex, but still obviously do quite well. However, most of these sites have gimmicks in addition to the vanilla sex. Take BangBros. for example. They're probably the most famous sex site online, but they have no anal or extreme sex, plus it's all condom-only. Yet, somehow, they're doing quite well and have managed to stay around for quite some time. BUT they have a gimmick. Vanilla sex may not be able to survive in the present porn market on its own, but if you have enough creativity to incorporate into it, you can make it work.

Haven't we forgotten lighting and editing?

Does the camera guy come with his own camera or does he have to rent one as well?

A lawyer I assume would be essential for the contracts associated with producing such a venture.

Money. Have some. Use it.

I'd hire a lawyer who has dealt with various entertainment industries. Draw up contracts and release forms. I'd also want to know what was legal and what would land my ass in prison where I am shooting. And I'd like to know about website sales of material I couldn't release in my movie.

Camera is key. And if you are gonna shoot the action, be sure to understand how to work the camera, avoid use if you are shooting shakey video. Not many people want to end up seasick while watching a porno.

Editing? Missed until Flash mentioned it. Good editing is a plus.

Lighting is important too, understand lighting.

Just a few more random ideas to all previously mentioned ideas.

What is a definition of a porno movie anyway? In our tiny country of 2 million (Slovenia) this 18-year old high school girl's boyfriend taped their sexual act and the tape somehow got into hands of some tabloid. The tabloid promoted it as porn, also stating full name of the girl and they even have the video of this act on their website for anyone to download for free. It just happened a week ago. Sick.

One could even say all you need to make a porno is have sex. If noone else's seen it and there's no tape of it, too bad for those who weren't there :)

I'm certainly not here to discourage anyone who thinks they could make good porn because...hey...we can always use more good porn in the world.

However, I would say that if you have to ask, you're going to have a difficult time of it. Gonzo might seem like a simple form but it's actually quite difficult to shoot good stuff (whether you're shooting sex or family videos). I'm not in the business, BTW. These are just observations. I've played around with a camera or two in my time.

It's obviously helpful if you have a unique way of looking at things and are able to visualize in your mind what you want your finished video to look like. Gonzo pornographers, I would think, have a much harder job than it might appear. Porn gets boring fast if the people behind the camera just go at it with the idea of taking a camera and filming sex. Just watching people fuck for 20 minutes might be exciting for newbies but hardcore porn addicts need creativity and variety. They want to see the limits pushed. They want porn that'll keep 'em strokin' from cover to cover.

If you think you really want to make porn, the first thing you should do is become an avid porn consumer yourself and explore as much of it as you can. I think there are already too many people working in the industry who really don't know what they're doing or who are totally out of touch with their audience. The best pornographers are the ones who got into porn because they were disappointed with what was already available and actually wanted to make a better porn flick (Buttman comes to mind, for some strange reason. LOL!).

If you just want to do it for fun, kicks or the money....maybe you could look into being a camera guy or something? But it definitely isn't something you can just go at half heartedly and expect to be successful. You need to have a vision and know what people want to see.

Get distribution first, then make the movie. You have nothing without distribution. Getting a movie out there to the masses is hard, because distribution is controlled by the 'old boy network'. If you don't have contact who know the secret handshake, you might as well take all your cash and just burn it.

Its possible to make porn to sell exclusively online, but you need traffic for that. Otherwise you'll have to settle for selling your content to companies like Adult.com, TopBucks, etc.

Well i was just asking for fun, im not planning at all to make a movie, im use to these site like brunob and basically what he tell is that he go out and find some chicks who want to do porno and pay them. He film a lot of his action himself etc. Ok most of that is probably a gimmick as star are probably contacted before and lot of things do before a scene, tought im thinking it must be fun for him. I was not aware of all these expense. Sure some can be avoid, for exemple shooting and make up peoples can really be avoid, tought a good camera cannot.

Recording yourself having sex with a girl is awesome. Of course she will have to be up for it. Getting your girl, wife, friend or even hookers to have them fuck you on camera makes a good viewing for later on.

I doubt any of the major porn performers, producers, directors, etc come to boards to ask how to make their own porn.

If you read interviews of male pornstars, almost all of them got some kind of rejection. I remember Erik Everhard said he called Anabolic and offered to send them a tape and they hung up the phone on his ass! He didn't quit.

Successful people do what they want to do. If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way. Porn isn't rocket science. Distributing porn could be very difficult, but it ain't impossible.

Lack of money is never a reason to quit. There's plenty of ways to make the money you need to start, if you're willing to work hard.

Nobody is going to open the door for you and hold your hand. You have to knock the door down or make a new door. Don't let other people tell you what you can't do.

You don't need anybody's approval to follow a dream. Get serious, do the research yourself, and get to work!

Actually, I have done motivational speeches for small business owners in Florida. True story!

At 24, I was running a successful business. I'm almost 28 now and my business has grown. I know first hand that most people will rather tell a person how many ways they can fell or how hard something is. So called "realist" are the worst kind of people I'v ever encountered!

It's just as easy to tell people they can do something and give them helpful advice. Saying nothing is also easier than saying something negative.

So just because something is "plentiful" means you shouldn't want to do it. What kind of reasoning is that!?

If the guy wants to make porn, how does that take anyway from anybody else? Women are plentiful in porn too, so all young hot 18 year old girls interested in being pornstars should just be a spectators too.

Of course not! Same for anybody else that wants in. One more porn director isn't going to shake Porn Valley's foundation. It may not be this guy, but new directors will come. Some people are not satified just watching, they want to be doing!

I agree with most of what you said, especially about giving helpful advice to someone who wants to achieve a certain goal or dream. But at the same though I don't think realists are always bad. If they try to interfere with someone achieving their goal, then that's bad, but if they give constructive criticism about bad stuff that could happen, then that person would be better equipped to deal with any problems that may arise as he/she tries to reach their goal.

By the way, congrats on the success of your business. It's impressive that you're 27 (same age as me) and have been running your own business for years.

It's cool that there are people in the world, like yourself, who like to see the positive side of things and believe in other people.

I used quotes around realists because most people who see themselves as realists are usually people who focus on the negative. People always move toward what they focus on good or bad.

Being realistic is important. Hopefully if the guy is serious, he understand possible setbacks and prepare for them. Most people in this thread were at trying to help.

I like Kami's response. Making porn is expensive, but she never told the guy to just give up. She's knows what she is talking about. Dave's link was also helpful. The guy should probably check into it.

I'm not interested in making porn, but I'm downloading Dave's program just to learn something new.

Duke Skywalker, no hard feelings. I completely agree with you.

I 've seen a ton of these "how do I get into porn" threads since I've been, and they always seem more negative than positive from my perspective.

I also bring have a tendency to bring my past business experiences into these things as well. I understand that more people fail following dreams than the few who make it.

I just don't want people to be discouraged from trying. If the guy looses $20,000 with nothing to show for it, at least he can say he tried. Maybe with regrets or maybe not. It's up to him to determine if losing money is something he's not willing to risk.

Most people spend more money on material things that usually end up sitting in the garage or basements of their homes than they do following their dreams anyway.

Since we only get one life, I just think you get more out of it by trying and failing, as opposed to going through life never taking risks. Understanding and accepting the risks are important too.

I have to agree that everyone should try their dream no matter how much the risk is. I am new here and I just want to say I enjoy reading these posts because I am very interested in making films and have been debating exactly how I want to do it. With a limited budget I think it is realistic, but a lot of hard work and planning must be done. As one poster said, you just can't hit record, well I agree with that, however I have no experience and it feels like the first time I got on the high dive as a kid. Sometimes all you need is a push either from within or from someone else.

Anyways I want to make porn too!!!! lol

Any advice is welcome because I will need it.

Dave's program would be a great place to start. You can always learn something from people who are doing it successfully.

I bought the program. I haven't read or listened to any of it yet. I just love learning new things. I don't plan to be shooting porn any time in the near future, but who knows how I'll feel in the future.

I feel like I can do almost anything if I plan properly and put in the work!
