Not sure if this should be in the poll section or not but here's my question.

How do most of the female porn stars start out in the business?

Are most of them strippers? High class escorts?

Models that just sort of fall into it???

Or is it all of the above? But remember, what I would like to know is the MAJORITY.

Who cares what the 'boys' think,...unless it's gay pornstars whose life he's looking to explore.

Then again, one can only expect an honest answer if the performers themselves wish to be honest about their answer.

actually I was doing bondage modeling in Pittsburgh Glamour stuff, a little topless and Direct models contacted me through one model place, I also had an agent from Canada contact me but that goes into quite a confusing story! Anyway I came out got picked up at the airport by fran and went straight to my first scene :) The first year in porn was magical I was totally hooked. In all honesty the best time of my career was back then, direct models only had maybe 20 girls. It was heaven!
stripping actually came later cause believe it or not I was too shy to strip at first!

question this maybe kind of personal, but what were your views on sex were you promiscous before porn or were you a only boyfreind get it type of girl. dont mean to bother you but the psyche of pornstar woman intrigues me alot. i guess progression from topless modeling to porn isnt a huge jump but in away it is. i also wonder about girls who were just regular everyday girls who then ended up having a sex on a gonzo or pov ameature shoots. i really wanna understand there logic . i know money has to with it, but i mean most girls i know would not even dream of doing this.

Don't all pornstars to be go to a secret porn college in Eastern Europe where they learn to take large objects in their asses? Only when they meet the approval of the secret masters can they go to California.

Please correct me if I am wrong, Kami, and since we have not ever met nor even shared any personal details of our lives with each other, I am going to attempt now to make an absolutely hopeless (more than likely) attempt at pop psychology.
Did you feel this way because of the sleaziness that is involved in the stripping industry?

I've been to many a stripclub in my time, and find that the majority of clientele there look pretty sleazy. That's a harsh judgement on them, I suppose, as I certainly aint the type to introduce myself to male strangers of the human species in any social situation, so maybe some of them aren't actually so bad as I surmise. Back to whatever it was I was trying to say ...

All those eyes of all those strangers watching you, you know, in a stripclub ... I kind of have a sixth sense and I can tell when strangers are looking at me on the street for a longer period than they shoud (doesn't anyone have any manners these days - it's rude to stare at other people!), and the feeling I get from that is a sickening one.

Whereas, in porn, I assume it'd be a much more intimate experience than stripping in front of complete strangers. The people you work with at a porn shoot - well, you know something about them, and what they may be like, so I'd guess that'd make you feel a lot more relaxed about it.

Am I making any sense, Kami, or am I just waffling wiffle, as I often do?

your totally making sense
what it is, is on a porn set they picked you already and soem one tells you what to do, some one drives you you know whats expected you do it some one picks you up. No chance for rejection every one knows whats going to happen.

In stripping you start your night with no idea and are faced with a room full of strangers, for the most part guys who think you are total trash and they can buy and sell you, then you have to smile and try to figure out what they want and whats in their head, most of them are jaded by pushy strippers, lots of opportunity to look stupid lots of opportunity to be rejected.

Wow! Awesome post, Kami!

What a stark difference between the two worlds. It's no wonder that many pornstars never make the leap to feature dancing, even after having developed a real fan following in the industry. The level of exposure in a strip club seems exponentially greater than on a porn set.

Thanks for the inside story. I'll never experience a strip club in quite the same way again.

I gotta tell you though from my experience in stripping and porn there are way more scum bags in stripping, there is more mob involvement and more predators, there is also more chance of getting your ass beat by another stripper, in porn that only happens when mexican food is involved.

I worked for a woman who ran a bachelor party agency. She got into fetish modeling (for foot fetish websites). The guy who owned those sites took her to LA with him for shoots with porn stars (still for foot fetish work). While she was in LA she made the leap into hardcore porn (I don't really know how, she never told me). She had a falling out with the foot fetish website guy. Without him, she had no one to travel to LA with, so she bullied me into it (she wouldn't book any parties until I went to LA with her). Once I was in LA, on all her sets (I was her driver), people kept asking me who my agent was, when was I available to shoot, etc. I was so flattered by the attention and the idea that they thought I was pretty enough to be in their porn, I went right for it.

good story. so like were you a regular girl before that. well i guess working for a bachelor party agency would not be considered normal by i guess regular people standards. i mean relationship and sexual wise were you promiscous or the exclusive type. one man woman type

uhhhh....that "boys" thing kind of came out wrong. I didn't mean it to be degrading like "you guys are being immature". I just meant guys and used the word "boys". Kind of like that song "the boys are back in town". They didn't mean it to be degrading but used the term boys and they're are actually talking about men. Sometimes I forget that you can't see people's expressions or hear their tone of voice when your talking in these forums.

Anway Kami, it's not that I have more interest in what the MEN have to say. I just want to hear from other people to see if they agree with you or their oppinions differ.

I like the way this thread starting go now with some of the performers telling us how they got started.

That's kind of what I was hoping for.

Not only that, but you might be surprised at the number of stars who just can't work the pole worth a damn. I haven't seen it for myself to date, but the few clubs I've been to get features quite often. I heard tales of at least one star visiting Nite Moves in the past 2-3 month that fell OFF the pole.

Just like that???

No hesitation???

Wow!

Sometimes I can't beleive that are women willing to perform these acts on camera for the world see. Thank god for that.

You never had thoughts about doing anything else in the sex industry on anything like that?

And was this partly financially driven? Or mostly? or somewhere in between?

I suppose, since it looks like you think any type of adult entertainment job isn't "regular", that I wasn't a regular girl before that. I danced in clubs for a few years before I went to work for the bachelor party agency, then I worked there for a couple years before I went into porn.

Relationship-wise I probably didn't fit the "regular" classification, either. I married young, and was married for nine years. I had a highly promiscuous period of about three months right after I seperated from my husband. Then I settled back down. I wasn't one man one woman. I never was. Even when I was married my husband accepted my long term relationship with my girlfriend. She and I were together for 14 years. Most of my relationships are in terms of years, even while they include others.

Sexually, I don't consider myself a promiscuous person. My job includes having sex with people, many of whom are strangers to me. That's my job. It doesn't bother me. I'm not unhappy with it. I usually like my job. Not because I'm having sex with strangers, though. Just because I like my job in a general way. I like the flexible hours. I like the pay. I like making people happy. I like talking to many interesting people and learning things. I like being acknowledged as good at what I do. Liking my job doesn't mean anything to me on a personal level about sexual choices.

And say that I have never thought of Kimi as a regular person. Always something special. Well, that, and plus al the tea she drink makes her very regular. But I think we are drifting into Joey's area of ... er ... specialty now. So I will ...

Last month I had to pick up a check from an advertiser, which just happened to be a strip club (Deja Vu). I had to wait for the manager to come and sign the check.

So I'm waiting, but the manager is talking to a guy and his girlfriend (fake boobs, spray tan, blonde in a bottle, but pretty nonetheless). The boyfriend does ALL the talking, starting with, "We brought the clothes you asked for." (I guess the manager had to see her in certain outfits.) The girl stood with arms folded and looked down at the floor the entire time. From what I could gather and the way it appeared, he was making her become a stripper.

Kinda fits with what Kami was saying about suitcase pimps.

Someone ought to take a much smaller, compact metal briefcase & beat those types of people over the head.

"The briefcase is mightier than the suitcase...beeatch!"

your right that's more accurate. I have seen it so much where I grow up, fuck I look at my niece and just go damn she will never have any shot at happiness. I hate going home, and seeing my sister in law pregnant kid on her hip cigarette hanging out of her mouth, whiskey in her coffee, nova on the front yard, older kid on the couch cause hes suspended.

on the other hand

one poster on this board started with shit was treated like shit never had a chance and suffered unbearable abuse, she owns her house, she never lies she doesnt drink and her kids are as normal as anyones kids. She also never takes drugs and is well read. i wouldn't have given her odds of living past 12 much less turning every damn thing around, takes all the thunder out of my pity party.
