those films like mike john on pov pervert.com does he just get a video camera and have the model meet him at a chotel or is there other people on set like a extra camera man make up or what ever. do any producers just shoot him the girl and the camera it seems that way on exploitedteens.com as well.

I wanna know because for my birthday i wanna make my own POV movies and i wanna know if this is common or legal for that matter even though i dont think im going to release the film. would a woman be comfortable with that.

There are various ways to shoot POV. Some people use a camera guy to hold the camera steady over their shoulder but most is shot just the girl and the guy who fucks.

I shoot all my pictures first than have the make-up retouched and send the make-up artist home. Most of my POV scenes are without any cuts. You see what really happens from start to finish.

If the girl is comfortable depends very much of who is shooting. I usually know the girl before I book her. In most cases we have worked together on other sets.

If you are a stranger to the business the girl or her agent might request somebody being on set for her security.

There's all kinds of threads on this board regarding which cameras are being used by various directors in the adult business.

May I suggest that you search for the term 'camera' by using the search function.

I tried to film some POV but when i picked up the speed whilst fucking the camara jolted around and lost focus, meanwhile i was dripping sweat on the viewfinder.

Are they holding the camara or fixing it to a tripod stand to keep it still?

for the ones that are actually holding it themselves, they're actually holding it.
they're skilled in multiple ways ;)

I have three different cameras. The one I use most is the Sony VX2000. Most important for good pictures is good lighting. The lights also cost much more than the camera.

It takes a lot of control to shoot good POV. You get the best shots when you don't look through the viewfinder or flip screen. If you extend your arm you get the whole action with the penetration and the girls face.

VX2000 is pretty legendary model, Steve. Good choice, but I would prefer a newer VX2100. Both very good cameras.

Although Im now occasionally using prosumer Panasonic 3CCDs model now, my choice of today woulde be probably Sony Z1 model due to its HDV capability. Editing hdv its not really a problem with nowadays hardware.

I wonder what kind of lighting is particulary used? I mean
some diffusion light boxes, softboxes, umbrellas, large reflectors?

I would just like to comment that there is a lot of badly shot POV.

First of all, I'd say more than half of advertised "POV" movies are not really POV. Either they have somebody else holding the camera and NOT getting the right POV angle, or the actual POV shooter is lazy and fails to maintain the proper "centered" POV angle during the shoot. Then assuming other things are done right you have to guys who don't put the girls in the right positions that show off their bodies best -- or they employ too many closeups and forget about the medium and wide shots.

Mr Holmes, you are one of the better shooters, but there are areas you could improve on. On many of your movies (Anal POV Sluts, Amazing POV Sluts series, etc) you let the camera drift to the side during the fucking creating an angle that is not natural for simulating a "point of view" fuck. This happens when you are shooting doggie very often. It should always look like we are fucking the girl and looking down at her from between our eyes with a steady head.

Also, during the doggie POV you sometimes do not get the girls in the right position to show off their asses. An example of when you did it "right" was the Mercedes scene in "Amazing POV Sluts #1". Her ass sticking in the air and she was on all fours. That's the way to shoot it. You don't get them in some crunched-up place like a couch or up against a chair where they cannot comfortably get on all fours and arch their backs. If you really want to know who is doing it right look at Michael Stefano, Mike John, or Tony T.

I'm sorry if this seems like I am singling you out, but I think directors need to know if they are doing something right or wrong.

You said shooting solid POV takes control. I don't doubt that and the numerous offerings of low-quality POV movies is a testament to this. I am telling you this because you are close to getting it right and making these "corrections" will put you in league with the best POV shooters.

When you do a POV movie, do it right or don't do it all. Messing up POV just makes for sorry looking camera shots and you would be better off just making a "normal" movie. Either go full POV or don't even try at all. That's what I say.

If it's not first person it's not P.O.V.,period. As far as the image quality goes, it's a lighting issue more than a camera consideration. A three chip will give you better results than a one chip. The glass is a major component in the results you get from P.O.V. shooting, most of the best are using anything from .5 wide angle to a .6. The wide angle covers a myriad of bumps and shakes making it appear to be smoother in the end. P.O.V. is no doubt the hardest sex to shoot in porn. Tony, Mike, Everhard do really good stuff and I agree they're the ones to study for best results.

Do the male talents get paid more for POV seems like its less fun and hard to do? I would rather go in with both hands and at a pace that's more fun, and looking at a little screen instead of the girl who's in front of you can't be good either!

To bad most POV is not really POV and sucks a-plenty. Guess its just to hard to shoot.

I find it amusing when fans see POV films and think “hey I can do that I just need me, girl, and camera and ill be a movie maker.”

But then when they see what they filmed they are like “Hey why isn’t my movie like Steve Holmes or Mike john, it’s just POV?”

Point of view sounds simple but far from it. Like Steve Holmes said he has three cameras and from what I understand those can be pretty expensive. There is also lighting, sets and trying to hold the camera steady as mention prior. Not to mention editing.

Well, but thats not far from true. The equipment is chepaer and cheaper with every other day.

Certainly theres people who will never ever make a good photo even with Canon 1DsMkII and certainly theres a lot of talented people who can get skilled and comfortable with making pictures or video quite quickly.
But I agree with you, it will be still sort of amateur stuff (not technically) although its still popular among these days.

To be a good photographer or videographer you have to study a lot of stuff about lighting, human vision, physics, how cameras work, people behaviour, etc.), and have a looooot of practice. Practice makes perfect! (gapes including, hehe).

The equipment itself its not the hardest thing. Tide up your living room, get some nice simple good looking eye candy furniture), get some used prosumer 3CCD MiniDV camera (ie Sony TRV950,PD150,VX2000,VX2100 or something like that), buy some cheap portable studio lighting setup, get your girl to nearest stylist or do makeup by herself (dont forget Visine for sparkling eyes) and you are done.
Now comes the hard thing - know how.
Thats what differs amateurs and pros.

I really appreciate your input. I know, that some of the camera angles I use are not true POV , but I do them on purpose. My idea of a POV movie is that intimacy that you get when there is no team on set. Just the girl, you and a camera. In my first POV movie I even had a reverse anal cowgirl. I extended my arm and shot it between her legs. You see the penetration and both of our faces. But different to a regular GONZO it is another atmosphere on set when you're alone with the girl.

Sometimes (in my bonus footage POVs) I even put the camera on the side and shoot when I eat pussy. Maybe we should create a new category.
