Ive always wondered how do you start an adult movie company ? Are their any sites that teach you this stuff ? Ive been looking at yahoo anwsers but they seem outdated. Im always watching the behind the scenes and ive always wondered I sometimes think about wanting to start a company.Or at least make a few movies to see what it is like. Thanks Bernard
^No offense but I think this is the problem with porn. I've seen numerous similar threads at ADT, usually by (what seems like) curiosity-seekers and/or guys intrigued by the idea of being around naked sexy girls and the possibility of having lots of on-the-job sex. There's nothing wrong with having aspirations. However, as a viewer/customer, it doesn't give me hope of getting fresh porn, nor does it make me reshuffle my budget in preparation to purchase porn from you. I would like someone to say: "Porn sucks, all the directors are doing it wrong, I believe I can do a better job because I hate non-stop closeups and I would never do non-stop closeups and I would never show dudeface at the wrong times and I have been practicing shooting porn with my GF and we have developed a whole new approach to shooting porn and my friends all think it is better than store-bought porn." Or something original like that. It seems that the wannabe pornmakers aren't motivated by the desire to make better/different porn. They just want to join the sex party.
ninja1-Actully I have some new ideas I want to try I myself am soooooo bored with the movies out now that it makes me want to learn how to make movies.I wrote ideas for movies years ago and I would like to make them real this is something ive always wanted to do.What I have in mind will be really cool if I can make it happen.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by new ideas. This is porn and has been around for quite a long time. I'm pretty sure they have tried everything It's like the wheel. You can invent different types of wheels but all you are doing is modifying the original design. You don't need to re-invent porn. If you have watched porn for long enough then you know what you like and what you don't like. All you need to see is if what you like makes money. The most important thing you need is disposable cash. It's the kind of money that's not borrowed, you don't care losing, isn't from illegal sources and in you have in large quantities. I would estimate that you need at the very minimum 50,000$ but 100,000$ would be much better. If you don't have that then don't even think about it because you are doomed to failure.

I've made my own porn using a Sony hi def camera and a tripod. Cost me zero to make, and it came out better than a lot of the stuff that's out there. If you are serious, you can go that route and sell it at clips4sale. Many people will buy amateur clips and you can expand from there. If you are now going to ask me how to find babes, it's not for you.
Before making any porn, please please please consult an adult entertainment attorney. There are things that are considered obscene, section 2257 regulations, movie permits, fornication and adultery laws, prostitution laws, etc.. I can't go into everything because I am not even qualified to, but I do know that unless you are in California or New Hampshire filming porn is considered pandering for the director/producer and prostitution for the talent. Example: In Michigan even just fucking your girlfriend (without a camera) can get you each five years in prison, filming a movie could get you life in prison easily once they get done stacking charges on you! For example if you do four scenes in Michigan, you could get eight counts (two people per scene) of pandering at 20 years each (160 total) and crossing county lines with a person with intent to pander/prostitute (another 160 years for eight counts). The talent would get five years per person per scene on top of this for fornication and another five years each per scene for prostitution. Since Michigan has an 85 per cent law essentially requiring all new convicts to serve 85 per cent of their minimum sentences before paroling 320 years is a life sentence and then some! As your talent would also do at least eight and a half years for just doing the scene, you could even accidentally decimate porn by filming in the wrong state!!! Your financier could also get 320 years along with you plus possible RICO act sanctions as porn in Michigan could possibly be considered organized crime. Also, prison conditions in Michigan are the worst in the country, people get ass raped multiple times a day in our prisons. If you even look at someone wrong, you could get beaten to a pulp or stabbed in the gut in a Michigan prison and the guards will just look the other way. Attractive females are routinely raped by the guards, there have been several court cases regarding this and the state has essentially flipped the bird to the federal court system because they consider rape to be part of the punishment for the crime and short of sending the military in the feds can't do a damn thing about it. Now do you see why you need to consult an adult entertainment attorney with my example above -- other states have similar laws on the books and no state prison is a Club Med. how would it be different than starting any other company you need finance, register a name, aquire the goods ( which in this case is the talent) equipment, staff have a business plan set out ie online only specialising in hetero hardcore, or dvd production and distribution, etc etc on and on we go basically if you just want to get laid with some porn stars there would be cheaper and easier ways to go about it if you have the cash but not the resources id say purchase an already operating company
Thank you for your thoughts and advice the attorney is a must and maybe I should try to find someone to team up with who has or wants to start a company.I know the economy sucks but I hate my job and I want to do something im proud of doing for a change.No i dont want to get into it because id like to bang hot girls like I said I have come up with great ideas yes some of them have been done but not in the way I have in mind.Also some of the stories I wrote are really good and its a shame not to use them.
I have read this law's content myself and confirmed its existence with a former prosecutor for Kent County. I know, it is shocking but unfortunately true. I understand Utah also has a similar law on the books.
A great number of laws have been passed which are probably illegal. So long as no one challenges them in court they'll continue to be enforced, though probably selectively.
Bernard, I had thoughts very similar to you. I thought I could do a better job of making adult videos than much of what I saw being sold. So, I did. Simple as that. It's not that difficult and not that hard. OK, there are legal issues, but they aren't that difficult to address. There are technical issues as well if you really want to do it well. And there are issues with talent. But, believe me, it can all be done and you can make money and have fun. Don't let those that haven't done it discourage you from giving it a shot. Google is your friend. There are several threads on ADT by guys that have done the same thing. I'd suggest searching for some of them. It's at least a good place to start.

Bernard i like what said angryassdrummer if you have the cash but not the resources id say purchase an already operating company. A little twist on that is find a company that is doing bad and become a partner, I would shoot outdoor free light and bounce fills or cheaper then lighting gear. find a girls that want to break into porn and get a good and get a good stud. if you joing a failing company the have at least to things the law rules and distribution to me that would be the two hardest to get, clip4sale might be good also. I forgot his name right now but about 3,4 years ago there was this supposed lawyer going around giving seminars and hooking people up with his connections. I think you had to pay $50 for basic entry and if you paid somewhere around $5000 you'd get to go to Florida and hang out with the guy and meet the people you "needed to meet" down there in some party atmosphere or something like that. Long story short is that in the end if you really want to start a decent porn company you're going to need at least $225K-$250K to invest (that shouldn't hurt your pockets worst case scenario). That money goes to lawyers, crew members (you're going to at least be shown how to do it right by a senior peer), talent (time and quality), cameras, computer (mac), software, location, drinks & drugs (opt. but good to have around), re-shoots (if need be), tips for female talent (more money makes her more willing which creates a better show). What you need most is the vision and the passion for it. If you're not an artist and you just wanna watch hot girls get it on then you might get lucky and cash in but most likely you'll only have short temporary minor success. ^ I have to disagree with the drink and drugs. Alcohol and illegal drugs will only bring you problems. Inebriated talent will not be able to follow direction adequately and possibly place everyone else in danger. That is how people get hurt, especially in BDSM play but also a recipe for a broken dick (if the woman is impaired) or an anal tear (if the man is impaired) as well as the talent not being able to feel pain possibly allowing him/her to sustain injury. Inebriated talent is/are also not photogenic and would be a turn-off to most customers. Men also can't sustain an erection adequately while impaired. This is also a legal concern on two fronts -- illegal drugs on your set will send you to jail or prison (especially if you provide them to talent) and severely inebriated talent cannot legally consent to sex, you could be an accessory to rape in the worst case scenario! Add to all that the possibly of someone puking on expensive carpets or bedding in a rented house or having a temper tantrum (especially with PCP, cocaine and meth) and damaging expensive (possibly rented) house and/or equipment and you can see that you don't want alcohol and/or drugs within a country mile of your set.
I've been around (AVN Hall Of Fame, XRCO Hall of Fame), and still perform some. Other than some pot that I saw only a VERY FEW talent members smoke in the back yard at some locations, I've not witnessed drugs on sets (I've been on sets for MANY hundreds of sex scene filmings). As a producer, I would not allow anything problematical on my sets, not even beer; and, although I've been on sets where the crew would break out a few beers as they were breaking down the equipment after the last sex scene was "wrapped", talent under 21 years of age were not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages at shoot locations even after the shoot was "wrapped". Talent made even slightly "compliant" by anything other than their own free will, could be a legal problem for the production filming. Call me blind, but mood-altering ingestions of anything during a shoot is infrequent and has not been anything close to routine/normal/etc, not in my considerable experience. Keep in mind that I'm a retired Army Lt Col with combat experience---I'm innately quite observant, and not very naive. On the other hand, I've heard rumors and conversations of drugs off-set, particulary at clubs/parties; talent members are part of society, so perhaps some partake off-set just like some other members of society partake! Porn shoots are a business. IMO, drugs on sets is not a major problem.

^^^ I was just going to say the same thing. Anything other than Marijuana or a double stack or more than two cups of alcohol would be over the line. ADULTS shoot pornography, not children. I'm sure they know their limits and if you have a good eye you'll know before they even know. I'm actually not bullshitting when I say that porn is an art and not just a fuck flick (for most professionals anyway). Anybody can do themes, I want to do more than that.
^ I would not allow alcohol on set at all unless it was something similar to The Upper Floor at Kink where it is a party atmosphere anyway and central to the scene (and talent better not partake). Two cups of whiskey comes out to about 12 shots, enough to make female talent severely impaired short of that person being a serious alcoholic (most men would be perilously close to impairment as well drinking that much). Drugs and booze on set will cause problems guaranteed, the best policy is not to allow them on the premises!

^I understand what you're saying and I agree. But truth be told, in the real world, if she's willing to drink chances are she can handle two shots of whiskey lol. I definitely agree with you about the sobriety of the male talent, it makes a difference even though I don't have those sort of problems myself. You have to keep a positive and light atmosphere on the set because you have to keep everything in order and people happy otherwise the scene won't reach max potential because it's just as much about quality as it is quantity $ $ $
Shoots are business, not a party. No alcohol, no drugs. Nothing for 24hrs before or during the shoot. No exceptions. There told ahead of time and I ask on camera EVERY time, have you used any alcohol or drugs during the last 24 hours? Anything except a clear NO means no shoot.

I heard about some of the Laws in California, I heard it's not a 1,2,3 kinda thing.
Just working in the industry period. If you're outside of the industry then it's a different story. I'm very familiar with where y'all are coming from and I get what y'all are talking about. That's one of the good things about working in the industry though, it's an atmosphere based around sex that's as professional as you're ever going to get. Anyway, as far as drugs (weed/extacy) and alcohol goes it really depends on the talent. I wouldn't have some female who's not quite experienced with a gangbang or a hardcore shoot not be prepared. If she needs something to help her take the edge off I'm going to comfort her and conform to her needs. If she can sign up for condomless sex then if she's over 21 a small cup of wine is fine with me. But I'm with y'all with being stricter on the male talent because alot of times it can make a difference from what I've heard. Just because you're having a drink or a joint doesn't automatically make it a party. I don't know where they do that at besides selected public social function settings (no disrespect).
