I'm a long time fan and was curious as to how the planning/booking process goes for directors/producers.
Here are a few of my curiousities......Thanks in advance for whatever you can answer.
Are girls mostly preselected before you begin casting?
Will you often take an alternate performer (female) if this is suggested by the agency or if availability of the performer you wanted is limited?
Who actually calls the girls, a booking agent or the director themself?
What percent of female performers are managed by agencies vs freelance?
Do girls come in for casting opportunities? If so, what does this entail.
When you book talent, have you already preselected the title that they will be in and the acts performed?
What happens when someone is a no-show. Can/do you have the option to call the agency and get a back up within a certain amount of time?
How long does a typical porn shoot last, say for a b/b/g scene?
How often does it take to do makeup, stills, wardrobe etc?
Are talent normally paid in cash or via checks?
Thanks!
Axl

Sounds like you want to worm your way into making a porn scene, my friend.
My opinion for what it's worth (sweet F'ing all) is that the answers to your questions are all very dependent.
E.g what method does one pay pornstars through - We all know at this point that you just swipe your credit card between their ass cheeks.

I really shouldn't be here

I am not involved in making porn but I just wanted to chime in and let you know that all of your questions could have a million answers that are all right depending on who is doing the answering.
Just for instance that one, normal is different for everyone. And we should all know by now there is no "normal"for porn but chaos. Which directors do you mean? In what countries? Etc. You have to want to know how Brandon Iron does it or how Jules Jordan does it or whoever, just generically asking how something works "normally" would be like trying to explain the Coriolis effect to someone in the 9th century.
Till it is done.
I don't even get this one, "often" isn't a duration of measured time.
Not trying to rag on you too much dude but I have seen all of your questions answered on these vary forums and in a variety of ways by a variety of industry people.
Take the search engine for a spin for some real fun answers to some of these, especially the talent being a no-show thing....
These questions have all been asked and answered and asked and answered and asked and answered...
Remember your audience is important with any questions especially when you aren't being the slightest bit specific. Do you want to know how Max Hardcore makes movies, or Steve Holmes? See what I mean?

^^^^^^^

That is an spammy ad for a pay site and does not help answer the original poster at all. Don't be such an ass.
The guy had a question and you try to get him to join your member's site?!?

Looked like another crappy "reality" site to me. I'll admit that I think it's not worth any money. LOL
Please do. It's almost as though you hadn't tried to help the original poster at all and only tried to sell him something.
Try reading the posts. Blatant advertising for something that isn't even related is brain damaged posting.

Are girls mostly preselected before you begin casting?
What do you mean preselected? (Isn't casting and selecting the same thing?)
Will you often take an alternate performer (female) if this is suggested by the agency or if availability of the performer you wanted is limited?
If a model flakes then yes, usually a replacement is found.
Who actually calls the girls, a booking agent or the director themself?
The agent.
What percent of female performers are managed by agencies vs freelance?
I have no idea, but booking through an agent increases the reliability factor.
Do girls come in for casting opportunities? If so, what does this entail.
You mean a casting call? Rarely. Generally girls only audition for parts in adult films which require some actual acting.

When you book talent, have you already preselected the title that they will be in and the acts performed?
Yes, numb nuts. You have to have the acts to be performed agreed upon before the scene is shot. How else are you gonna know what to pay them for?
What happens when someone is a no-show. Can/do you have the option to call the agency and get a back up within a certain amount of time?
Yes.
How long does a typical porn shoot last, say for a b/b/g scene?
It varies.
How often does it take to do makeup, stills, wardrobe etc?
It varies.
Are talent normally paid in cash or via checks?
I've seen some shoots where models get paid in cash, but it's usually a company check. Sometimes they even have to wait a week or two as come companies process through payroll services with taxes taken out even.
:)
Now, if you want to see how I do it... LOL.

I know this was from December, but since you only had two honest replies I'll throw in my 2 cents.
Are girls mostly preselected before you begin casting?
Not sure what you mean here.
Will you often take an alternate performer (female) if this is suggested by the agency or if availability of the performer you wanted is limited?
If Im going through an agent and the girl is unavailable for the time I want to shoot, then yes, you either have to book someone else or do the shoot when that model is available.
Who actually calls the girls, a booking agent or the director themself?
If I know the girls I’ll call them myself; the ones I don’t know obviously the agent will call.
What percent of female performers are managed by agencies vs freelance?
Don’t know.
Do girls come in for casting opportunities? If so, what does this entail?
I might do a casting if I’m looking for new talent, but it entails too much to get into here.
When you book talent, have you already preselected the title that they will be in and the acts performed?
You have to know the acts to be performed for the talent to accept the booking.
What happens when someone is a no-show. Can/do you have the option to call the agency and get a back up within a certain amount of time?
Yes, I could.
How long does a typical porn shoot last, say for a b/b/g scene? How often does it take to do makeup, stills, wardrobe etc?
This all depends.
Are talent normally paid in cash or via checks?
I always pay my talent in cash.
