I would think that the act of having sex in front of a camera could be could be quite intoxicating and addictive. Not to mention the fan worship and lifestyle that being a pornstar can provide. It has to be a difficult transition in many ways to go back to the 9 to 5 world that must of us live in. I've often heard of professional athletes say they can never find the "high" they had when they were playing. Which is why so many stay in the business in coaching, administrative or broadcast capacities. I see the same thing in porn with many performers going on to the directing and producing of porn. Porn lifers, if you will. Even 55 year old Vanessa del Rio has her own website and yahoo group and still has a ton of fans. Just wonder what some current and former performers think of this? [Link] |

Not only does it take me a fraction of the time, but my adult industry job is active and exciting, sitting at the same old desk with the same old boss and the same old paperwork day after day is mind-numbingly dull. For me, but certainly I won't speak for all performers, the attention and affirmation is worth at least as much as the money. If that isn't enough, and again, I speak only for myself, I feel empowered. Because of the money, I have more options. I'm not pay check to pay check. Because I have so much more time outside of work there are so many more things I can do for myself and my family. I'm sure there are jobs outside of the adult entertainment industry that provide these kind of perks, but I haven't had any of those. Yeah, it's mega hard to give it up. Mega hard to even want to give it up. |
