Other than some pot that I saw only a VERY FEW talent members smoke in the back yard at some locations, I've not witnessed drugs on sets (I've been on sets for MANY hundreds of sex scene filmings). As a producer, I would not allow anything problematical on my sets, not even beer; and, although I've been on sets where the crew would break out a few beers as they were breaking down the equipment after the last sex scene was "wrapped", talent under 21 years of age were not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages at shoot locations even after the shoot was "wrapped". Talent made even slightly "compliant" by anything other than their own free will, could be a legal problem for the production filming. Call me blind, but mood-altering ingestions of anything during a shoot is infrequent and has not been anything close to routine/normal/etc, not in my considerable experience. Keep in mind that I'm a retired Army Lt Col with combat experience---I'm innately quite observant, and not very naive. On the other hand, I've heard rumors and conversations of drugs off-set, particulary at clubs/parties; talent members are part of society, so perhaps some partake off-set just like some other members of society partake! Porn shoots are a business. IMO, drugs on sets is not a major problem." |
| ClayraBeau Member 659 Posts 2/10 | On the drugs note, the most I've witnessed on a set has been weed, but then it's practically legal in California, so that's no big deal. I personally harbor no addictions aside from caffeine and nicotine. So, the only thing I can add to the "just before a scene" routine is "run outside to smoke". That said, I'm kind of surprised that no one has mentioned preparations leading up to a scene, though I did see someone mention they carry a butt plug with them. If I have a particular demanding scene coming up, like a DP or anal scene, I like to keep my asshole "trained" to take larger insertions. If everything isn't stretched out for at least a few days in advance, it can get really uncomfortable. |

Coffee is also a powerful stimulant for peristalsis and is sometimes considered to prevent constipation. However, coffee can also cause excessively loose bowel movements. The stimulative effect of coffee consumption on the colon is found in both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee.[28][29] Practitioners in alternative medicine often recommend coffee enemas for "cleansing of the colon" due to its stimulus of peristalsis, although medicine has not proven any benefits of the practice. Contrary to popular belief, caffeine does not act as a diuretic when consumed in moderation, and does not lead to dehydration or to a water-electrolyte imbalance; current evidence suggests that caffeinated beverages contribute to the body's daily fluid requirements no differently from pure water. |

That is something I have always wondered about. Whether or not the anal-ladies in the industry use butt plugs in their off-camera lives in non-sexual situations, for scene-preparation or otherwise. Or at least not in overtly sexual situations. Like under their clothes on occasion, when they are out and about in public or around the house. This is an informative thread. |

| Rod Member 908 Posts 8/10 | I'm a big fan of coaching and think it makes a big difference in the final output, but I'm not a fan of coercion. Helping and supporting and coaching are helpful, but is a problem when it starts to border on being coerced. Whether they've been 'prepared' for their scene, I don't like porn performers that have been coerced. |
| ClayraBeau Member 659 Posts 2/10 | @ZeroCool007: First, nice work on the Hackers/Bond screen name :) No, I've never had any pain or other issues from wearing a plug that long. I've actually had more problems from taking Imodium before an anal scene, which is great for guaranteeing I don't, uh, "go", for a day or two. THAT gets uncomfortable. Toys, however, have been good to me. @Rod: I have to wonder if you're just a grammarian at heart. I don't know that most people here would want someone to be coerced into porn. Most of the people who've responded, myself included, just took it as poor word choice, as the OP clarifies the title of the thread:
1. I don't mind sharing with those that are curious. 2. I hope that any girl lurking the boards who wants to get into the industry learns something. I was a lurker of a few sites before I started fucking on camera, and I know I learned a bit here and there from actresses who would drop some knowledge here and there. |

| mharris127 Senior Member 1844 Posts 8/09 | Sharon Mitchell at the now closed AIM used to recommend brushing teeth upon arising but not for the rest of the day and not flossing at all the day of a BJ or cunnilingus scene. She also recommended sucking on breath mints or using breath spray to keep your mouth appropriately fresh for your partner of the day. Flossing (and to a lesser extent brushing) of teeth cause micro-cuts in the mouth which is a great way to get herpes or HIV sucking on dick or clit. Of course she also recommended condoms for every type of sexual contact on set which has now been proven to cause micro-cuts and irritation from lack of lubrication (and increasing the chance of a VD if the condom breaks) in the ass or cunt, especially if the sex act takes more than about 15 minutes. Also, condoms break after about that time in many cases and scenes take at least 45 minutes to an hour in each position many times once stills, softcore and hardcore are all done. Don't misinterpret me, I support condoms in real life (and the woman's right to use one in a scene anyway) but in most porn scenes they just don't work that well. I think minimizing micro-cuts in the mouth (or in any orifice) the day of a scene is a good idea, so I recommend not brushing/flossing before a scene and thinking carefully on whether you want to use a condom or not, especially for anal. Of course an internal pop-shot is almost never appropriate (sorry, I hate external pop-shots as much as the rest of us) unless you are fucking your girlfriend/wife, trust that she is VD free and you don't mind the chance of having children. For women preparation for a scene should include an effective hormonal form of birth control, I know a couple of people (outside of porn) that prefer the once a quarter hormonal shot to the pill. I would also recommend the Hepatitis A and B vaccine as well as Gardasil (the HPV vaccine). Unfortunately there isn't a vaccine for herpes, chlamydia, syphilis or gonorrhea. Herpes is a given, if you are talent you will likely contract it, probably within your first hundred scenes or so. Chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea are curable with proper antibiotics, be sure to test for each on a monthly basis as long as you are in the industry. I haven't heard of a pubic lice transmission in the industry although it is possible to get it through sex or even on a toilet seat. Guys, be sure to have Viagra in the kit you take to each shoot (if you do not use Caverject). Guys using Caverject need alcohol wipes and a fresh syringe to inject with. For all, there should be condoms (just in case talent insists), lube (several tubes), an assortment of dildos, clothing for different situations, a sealed sea sponge (to deal with a woman's Aunt Flo), copies (and original) of your test results and two forms of ID (one being a US driver license/state ID or passport), a pen and notebook for recording who you fuck that day (just in case of a VD infection so you can notify APHSS and the affected talent), a pair of headphones, an MP3 player with your favorite music or video on it, a book to read and a pair of decent slip-on/off shoes. Also, carry a working cell phone with a fully charged battery just in case you need a ride away from the set as well as $100 in 20's, 10's, 5's and 1's for a cab ride (or a tow). For anal players, an anal bulb would also be appropriate to rinse feces from the portion of your ass that a dick or tongue will come into contact with. Soap, towel and washcloth would also be appropriate as well as baby wipes, especially for women. A nice bathrobe would be useful for after the scene, especially if you do heavy BDSM as a bottom. |
