I used to work as the stock clerk in an adult shop in downtown Toronto and I grew quite a collection of curiosities on VHS. The place I worked had almost totally abandoned the format so I got to snap up large amounts of neat older stuff relatively cheap. [Link]

Click to expand My cellar and my attic are FULL. Especially the big old vintage vcr boxes are eating space. Sometimes Ive paid up to $75 for these old VCR formats, they are very rare. Ive only detected one (!) in a sexshop in DK years ago. You can only buy these at movie conventions, and the dealer know how rare and expensive they are. Ive spent several $ 1000s on my collection, because I only collect originals. But my father also contributed to my collection. [Link]

But I will wait till my DVd arrives (1 or 2 weeks i suppose) I have not seen that video. This thread fooled me I started reading it and found that most guys only had a few DVD's then I realised that it was started in 1999 ! and someone has resurrected it ! I have between 1000 - 1100 mainstream dvds and like 95 adult titles. With the exception of about 7 dvds, I bought most of the adult ones in the past 1 1/2. I just decided I would much rather own, than have copies or anything else. I got a lot of my titles pretty cheap on ADM. [Link]

I have 54 (vhs+dvd, mostly dvds tho'). My mainstream is ~50 vhs tapes (majority bought before DVDs became popular and just not ones I care enough about to replace) and 90 DVDs. Nowadays I mostly rent mainstream via a postal subscription service as I realised I wasn't watching lots of the ones I was buying more than once or twice before they sat on my shelf to gather dust, but that I watch enough movies to make it worth the regular fee. Now, I only buy when I'm sure I'm going to want to watch it in months/years to come again or it's a good one to have when friends come over. I should consider the same for porn, as some of my purchases are too spontaneously random (when I end up in sex shops on a shopping trip that becomes an evening browse), therefore they're of slightly random quality. At least it would provide a review-before-purchase option, especially with the higher purchase prices compared to mainstream.
