Our cap is 1500 pages per day (and its only pages with data on them) running midnight to midnight eastern time. We settled on this after studying our logs and seeing where people seem to end and robots seem to begin.
If you get capped at say 12:05 AM, clear your cookies. We use a combination of server-side and cookies and the server side resets, perhaps the cookie isn't for whatever reason.
You can also drop a note to iafd@iafd.com and we should be able to manually clear things out if you get caught in a heavy duty research session...

Thank you very much. I was also wondering if "back" clicks count against you.

They shouldn't if you're pulling from your local cache. If you're hitting the server every time, then they might.

Thanks Jeff. I got a feeling I just need to dump cookies more often. I can't imagine I'm hitting 1500 clicks a day but then again I just might at times.

Jeff I was on one time this morning and probably had a couple hundred clicks. This evening I tried to access the site and I am capped again. Confused !!! By the way I have dumped cookies a couple of times today.

When it happens, email your IP address as its being reported on the capped page and I'll look into what's going on.
Are you using a shared IP address (i.e AOL or some other public thing?)

Hmmmm I did that once and the IP address didn't look anything like what shows on my computer. Hmmmmmmmmm......No I don't knowingly use a shared address.

It may be your ISP that shares the address, not yourself.
In any event, send me the IP address next time it happens so I can see what's going on.

I like to use What is My IP for these kinds of things. Often the IP that the outside world sees is something other than what you think it is.

I tend to use the CheckIP from DynDNS (http://checkip.dyndns.org); but our "too much traffic" page gives you the same info and you don't have to go elsewhere for it...

Many smaller net providers use Network Address Translation in conjunction with a private network addressing scheme. Without getting into all the details, this means that the IP address you see assigned to your computer may not be the IP address your traffic goes out under on the Internet itself.
