| Posted - Apr 7 2001 : 1:42AMReading about how Ken Graham was able to secure a response from Caballero regarding remastering discs, I was wondering how often and how many customers do make their complaints and suggestions known. Since the internet (for better or for worse) allows for more people to e-mail companies in a far more convenient fashion than snail mail, I just wanted to know if any of you do complain (or compliment) by writing to the studios complaining about their products (poor mastering; edits; technical flaws), or do you just post them on discussion forums such as this one and newsgroups (like RAME)? Companies like Evil Angel, VCA and Wicked have been courtesously prompt and aggressively responsive when consumers complain on this board (Private and Odyssey are also fast on the ball, too), but I don't believe I have seen a representative from Caballero or Vivid respond to customer feedback. Just wanted to know how often and in what matter people make their voices heard... DIESEL Check into DIESEL'S DEN on Adult DVD Empire. Edited by - Diesel on Apr 7 2001 [Link] |

I have never complained via-email to a studio because I find there is just no point. Chances are, I am not gonna get a response. Frankly, not too many studios actually care about it's customers, only the money and it's production, is what they care about. That is the way I see. I tell you one thing though, I have had questions about particular Evil Angel titles and Evil Angel was not only prompt and generous, but gave me more than enough details. That type of studio activity for it's fans...I love. I really wish I could hear what Vivid has to say about most of their titles...especially The Window . I wanna know what happened there with the image, and it looks like a lot of focus was put more on the 2hrs of "Extras" crap. P.S: If studios want to conquer DVD..adultdvdtalk is the right place to hear about opinions, and what it's fans desire, so that their product not only satisfy, but they have an idea what DVD is all about, which equals to good cash, enough to make another great production. If they only knew. -sonic Edited by - sonic on Apr 7 2001 [Link] |

I have often complained about Private films and their annoying dubbing that they do (I know loads of other people that have complained about this) . I have e-mailed them three or four times and have made my comments known on this forum and others, but I have had not seen a reply/comment from Private on my complaints.I agree that Evil Angel do seem to be spot on with their attention to their customers. When contacting Private direct however, their response service is extremely poor! Flinty* [Link] |

I agree with Sonic the studios could learn a lot and probably make a lot more money just by reading what people post here. [Link] |

I think most of us would be surprised if we knew how much of the industry monitors this site. I think it's great that there are many studio reps involved here on ADT. I wish some of the 'lurkers' would get involved as well. I think that teh feedback they receive here would benefit the industry as a whole. [Link] |

I've e-mailed Vivid regarding their practice of etiting many of their older titles that have been put on DVD. If I remember correctly I was asking about "Ginger On the Rocks". They have edited out Christy Canyon's only scene from the VHS copy (but still kept her name on the box). I wanted to know which version was on the DVD (because I was only interested in it because of Christy).I never got a reply from them, so I assumed that the scene had been edited out. A later review told me that this scene was still in the disk. If I hadn't read the review, Vivid's lack of a reply would have cost them a sale. I think, for the most part, the companies who really care about quality issues don't get that many complaints because when there is a problem, they take care of it before the disk has been issued. Many of these companies have realized that it is a good idea to participate in forums like this one in order to get feedback on their product. Some of the companies have done a good job at implementing changes based on that feedback. [Link] |

Diesel, I know this'll be a stretch for you but I have emailed a number of company's in regards to complaints. I have called a few on the phone too. I have also let any problems be known by the people I bought the movies from since they will have a lot more pull with the prodction company. Most of the time though, I am content to just let my reviews speak for themselves. Evil Angel, Wicked, Adam & Eve, and a few others have been very responsive to my emails/reviews/various forum comments. Others, including NuTech or JM Productions, have either not responded or sent generic responses that are obviously designed by an English as a second language student. I mentioned such a response in a review earlier this year: Lousy JM Productions dvd . I agree with Drew as I have received numerous emails over the last 6 months or so by people who "lurk" here, a number of them from production company's. Perhaps if they were more responsive here, or via email, they would be able to play spin doctor or explain what went wrong with particular dvd's. Just a thought, Don [Link] |

Evil Angel and Elegant Angel have always replied promptly when I've had a question for them. Regarding the Private dubbing:I will never buy a Private disc as long as they keep dubbing their films and don't offer direct sound on their discs. I don't care if I can't understand what the performers are saying. Dubbing totally ruins the heat in a film for me. If it's a classic title, I understand because that's how it was done back then. I think they dub because most of the performers all come from different European countries and don't all specak the same language, and don't forget that they want to release their movies in 6 or 7 different European countries. I still hate it, and hope to see more than 1 or 2 titles offered by them with direct sound. I thinks African Dream has direct sound on it. [Link] |

We all speak the language of having sex however (the genuine moans and groans of the stars). For the sex parts you don't have to have a conversation so these parts could be left undubbed....I still buy their disks but it does spoil a part of it for me too, however I don't seem to notice the dubbing with their Penthouse disks. Either they dub them extremely well or not at all....I haven't figured this one out yet! I have Computerised Sex Cravings by director Kovi and this wasn't dubbed.... Flinty*

Don't usually complain to the studios as much as the company I bought the tape/disc from. However, the one time I did complain to a company (Elegant Angel) the response was swift and not very pleasent according to the mail order company in question. However, I am currently experiencing problems with one of Vivid's Virtual disc's (currently waiting for the 2nd replacement). If this one is still defective then I will complain to Vivid just to see if/how long it takes to get a response. [Link] |

I think it all depends on the company in question. Some, like all businesses in this world, pay more attention to their customers than others. Also keep in mind that not all of our complaints can be addressed, especially if it is a question of personal tastes, which is what I see alot of here. When you find a quality product and a production company, website, or mail order company that is willing to stand behind it, stay with them - I do! [Link] |

Every now and then I complain to the studio. There are a few I'd like to complain to but I haven't been energetic enough to get their e-mail address. If it's a new DVD I'm normally more willing to e-mail the company than if it's an old DVD. For example, Adam & Eve. They know that their early DVDs, such as the Dinner Party, suck. They're trying to make amends and in my opinion have probably shown the most improvement out of any company's DVDs I've watched. With the effort they appear to be putting to releasing a good DVD, and also remastering old ones such as The Dinner Party, I don't see much reason to hassle them about the old ones. If it's a new DVD they seem to be open to any legitimate complaints as they still appear to show interest in trying to be one of the best companies out there. I've also e-mailed Wicked and Evil Angel with problems and compliments on their DVDs. David and Tricia have been great on both counts and it's made me more supportive of their companies because of it. [Link] |

Tried complaining to Vivid's tech support the other day about "Interactive Body Parts" and the e-mail came back as no such address. The address came from Vivid's own dvd site. [Link] |

I don't complain. Mainly because I just don't feel like the studios would really listen. I mean they might if a whole lot of people complained about one specific thing. But what's one voice to a studio? And that's what I often worry I'd be complaining about. Something others aren't.Companies don't give a damn when I complain that they changed the design of my favorite underwear or blue jeans. Is all they want is to make money. And I guess they figure that once I bought that design, I ain't going to come back to buy it again when it wears out--which doesn't make much sense to me. I just figure the porn companies won't really listen and institute changes either. [Link] |

For the most part I don't think the adult companies care. A lot of them will talk about how little help their customer base gives them when it comes to prosecutions by the government. What they don't realize is they get what they give; if the customer thinks they don't give a crap about them then why should they care about the company. To date I have only seen two companies actively care about their customers/fans. They are Wicked and Elegant Angel. That is not to say other companies don't as well (Evil Angel seems active in this area). There are just two specific cases I can point to that demonstrates this for those two companies. Both instances happened at trade shows. Now for all of you that go you know there is a constant flow of complaints from companies about "fans" showing up at these things and therefore stopping business. (We will save the discussion of why hire someone to sign autographes and then complain about the people who show up to get them for a later time.)You can get a real good idea of a companies attitude towards its customers by how they deal with this situation. In one instance I saw Patrick Collins (head of Elegant Angel) make one of his employees apologize for being rude to people waiting in line and the other instance was during one of the several times Jenna was late for a signing the people were going down the line apologizing to people for the wait and giving out t-shirts. These are the only times I have seen companies act in such a manner. [Link] |

1. I complained to Vivid about the butchering of their DVDs (Borderline specifically) and how for a plot company how they are cutting scenes out makes no sense to the movie itself. No reply2. I wrote to Zane asking them why I was only getting the first hour of the 2 hour Backstage Sluts II (hilarious interviews with Corey Parks of the band Nashville Pussy talking about fisting a groupie. The main reason I bought the disk). HOw did I access the second hour from either the menu or by changing title somehow No reply. [Link] |

Torris, I'm very unhappy with Vivid products in general. Most of what I've seen from the company I'm very unhappy with. It's gotten to the point where I won't even buy Vivid unless Brad Armstrong or someone I like as a director does something for them.As for cutting scenes from VHS for the DVD, I don't even think I'll comment on cause that makes me so mad. Why do that? [Link] |
