The only thing that I can say is that it seems that every year there are less scenes/movies produced compared to the year before. And it's not difficult to see why. Edited by - leatherface on 9/2/2015 4:38:00 PM
^ Is that observation true of the limited scope you watch or have you paid attention to every studio's releases? I don't know if it compensates but there seem to be a lot more internet-only studios publishing scenes. Granted, a few have cut back. Even so, having fewer scenes doesn't have to there being less runtime in terms of releases - I remember more than 10 years ago when the average porn scene I watched lasted 20-25 minutes, sometimes close to 30 minutes. Now a lot of scenes are at least 40 minutes long and with a lot of Evil Angel releases, it's not even surprising when a scene pushes or breaks the hour mark.
Yeah I would agree with that. There is definitely less stuff in the States, but Europe still does quite a bit on a daily basis.

To me that's not the noteworthy part here. I find the value of DVDs released way back to be rising. Porn from 2004-2010 or so. Stuff gone out of stock. Shit that was really good. Where art comes in and spread its wings over the gonzo genre. Yeah makes my mind fly away on a daily basis, who said you mustn't get high on your own supply.

Japan produces more porn than the rest of the world combined, but the vast majority of it is pixielated, the Japanese censorship that keeps their fare internal for the most part. It's annoying to Westerners, most of JAV titles sold in the west is purchased by Japanese expatriates. Many porn scenes are done by webcam gals who film themselves with their boyfriends or husbands and sell them exclusively on their cam sites or blogs or websites. Some strippers produce their own porn scenes and sell them via blogs or websites too. You won't find that fare in the porn peddler palaces. There likely isn't a good answer to your question since so much smut is produced by amateurs. Is Girls Gone Wild porn or is it erotica? Is solo action porn or erotica? People can look at it in different ways.

When you consider the massive quantities of quality porn already produced and in general circulation you have to question what necessity their actually is for more porn to be produced. If it is breaking new ground or responding to customer demand for niche material then ok and its always going to be compelling to see new faces but at the end of the day the first decade of the millenium produced such an amazing wealth of porn , it seems to me that nowadays all that is really needed is a lower volume drip feed of more focused quality product. I mean who even has time to watch a fraction of all the porn that was produced since 2000.
^ Couldn't agree more. All these threads on here clamouring for new this and new that...just baffles me. It would take several lifetimes just to watch what's already out there; hell, it would probably take me that just to watch my own collection (the stuff I own but have yet to view).
Yeah anybody with a full time job, let alone a life, would have to spend all their free time watching porn and still probably wouldn't see everything. Hell, I only watch porn from a few studios now and dont think I'll ever watch all of their content even if they stopped making porn. In short, more than enough porn is made everyday. Even with this slowdown. Edited by - chessmaster on 10/1/2015 2:22:42 PM
I think a lot of people, like myself, have no interest in 95% of the mainstream stuff being produced. It's just the same stuff over and over. I only watch certain oral, certain g/g, certain performers, certain niche stuff. I buy a ton of clips4sale. I buy a lot of custom solo stuff.

Exactly. There's a big difference between "A lot of porn is being produced" and "A lot of porn that I like is being produced." I personally don't view all porn (performers, directors, sex acts, etc.) as interchangeable.
The difficulty with clearing a porn backlog - as opposed to mainstream movies - is that, by its nature, it tends to be watched in 'bursts'. You watch it until the, um, magic happens ...then you lose interest and have to turn it off. It can take me ages just to get through one movie like this. Kinda deflating when you look at the cover of, say, an Evil Angel DVD and it proudly proclaims: running time 3 hours, 15 minutes. I suppose on the surface that looks like value for money but, realistically, all I really wanna see is a couple of minutes of the cock in each orifice, followed by the cumshots.
Agreed on the overly-long run times on newer scenes. Anywhere from 20-30 minutes is good enough for me. I have a huge backlog of scenes to watch. One other thing that frustrates my attempts to go through it all is that I tend to have favorite scenes I just go back to again and again. Most times I'm in the mood for a sure thing and don't have the patience to discover a new scene.
While understand the point about not really needing new porn, I am also ashamedly a typical consumer that likes new and shiny stuff.

Bought a five pack from Devil's Film a while back, called Orgymania! The box has that fresh new car smell still. The DVDs entitled Creampie Orgy vol 5-9 came out around 2008. To me they're new. Unknown hot chicks, crazy action all over and yeah that fresh smell too. Not even 30 dollars. Gotta be some of the best buys out there.
