If (if) EA could get a $25/copy, that's 20,000 just to break even. If you have a candid converstation with anyone in the adult business, you'll find out that 20,000 copies is a huge number of DVDs to sell. Of course if you merely break even, you're losing money.

A more realistic number to make the endevour worthwhile would be 40,000 DVDs, or $2 gross for every dollar in the budget. That gives you some room for marketing, promotion, general overhead.

40,000 units is a mega number in the adult business, which is why the budgets for video with even the biggest stars, like Jenna Jameson, are measured in tens of thousands, not hundreds of thousands, let alone the millions of dollars needed to produce "real" movies.

That doesn't mean EA hasn't or won't move 40K copies, but it's a safe bet they didn't ship 40K copies of Fashionistas on its release date. The only way you're going to hit a number like 40K is 1) have the money for the budget, and the stomach to risk it on an uncertain outcome, 2) produce something with a long shelf life, 3) have the financial where with all to let the investment mature. Most companies 1) don't have $500,000 cash, 2) couldn't make something of lasting value, 3) don't have the financial staying power needed to see an investment of that magnitute come to fruition.

More interesting to me is whether or not the budget for Fashionistas 2 is larger, smaller, or about the same as the first.

There'd be no shame in producing a lower budget, lower risk sequel to capitalize on the name, that's part of the "financial staying power" aspect of the equation. But wouldn't it be encouraging if the budget were significantly higher? That would suggest that Stagliano's investment paid handsomely, handsomely enough he felt it was worth making a bigger bet!

And wouldn't it be a rich irony if the man who should porn how to shoot video went on to show porn how to shoot film!

Are there 2 and 4 disc versions, or is this seller just misinformed?

Mine is the 4 disk version but that includes 2 disks of the movie, 1 of extra features, & 1 of just the soundtrack (which is a pretty cool album all by itself). I would assume that the 2 disk version is just the movie.
