Let's say i have about six friends who make decent money, but all of them are hitting 30 and getting tired of the suit and tie jobs. WE ALL LOVE PORN. So we invest $10,000 each on our dream of producing and directing porn and putting it out like BANGBROS.COM
your location and finding girls would probably be the biggest problems... it's not legal to film porn in some states... you guys also have no reputation so girls might be hesitant to work with you.
STEP ONE. Don't ask here! Starting any business means research. First of all, I think your startup investment is too low. You definitely need to get a lawyer. Like anything else, you have to treat shooting porn like any other serious business.
If you are serious about it, you can find better places to find the info you need. It's just a hunch, but I doubt very few people running porn websites started by asking here. There's a shitload of porn sites out there, so it's definitely not impossible. Seriously, more research seems to be what you need at this point.
Tired of their suit and tie jobs? If they are moving up in the world, I bet they make more money now than they would in a porn website. It is also a moving target. Members will copy your pictures - if they can't they won't join. That will make it out for free on other websites. So you always need newer material.
Plus, how do you distinguish yourself from the sea of websites out there?
Now if you don't mind some lean times, go for it.

I'm a porn webmaster and I can tell you that the market is already saturated with plenty of sites like the BangBros Network. What is not commonly known about the BangBros is that they did not start from zero knowledge of internet porn. They started in 96 or 97 with a large number of link lists, free sites, etc; they already had a ton of traffic. They started their own paysites as way to make money off the traffic they already had instead of sending it to a sponsor, because they wanted to see if they could make more money that way. Luckily, they were right and later, they were able to start an affiliate program, which made them even more $$$. They started their paysite in 2000 and I first remember hearing about it in 2001. There is absolutely no way that you can compete with BangBros, unless you come up with a new niche that hasn't been whored out on the Internet.
What I find is that most people who want to 'invest' in porn actually just wanting to buy a fantasy. You'd be much better off investing in real estate or something that you have knowledge of, because the days where you can just slap together a paysite and make a huge amount of money on it are long gone.
And, you'd be shocked to know that there are people in porn who do wear nice collared shirts to work every day. Crew members and warehouse workers can wear whatever, but people who work in porn offices do look nice when they go to work.
It seems like you'd need a bunch of scenes already in the can pardon the expression. Like at least 10 scenes. I'm no businessman, but I'd estimate at least $150,000.
I came across NEXTDOORAMATUERS.COM, which looks like it's a one man operation. Does anybody know the history of this site, and what about starting a free site first, with softcore, just to get traffic, then switch to pay site...
There is certainly no definite answer. If you are asking that question here though chances are you'll need to spend a lot, as your not familiar with the business. Content, consulting and legal alone are gonna be lots, let alone marketing. Pornlaw and myadultgroups are as bang with their advice as you'll probably get.

You could have actually had a chance at that particular concept working if it was still 1998. You would have made decent $$$. You can still do the same thing, but it will merely be a trickle of cash, unless you are selling a very unique niche, say for instance, armpit hair covered in cum, etc.
All I know about NextDoorAmateur.com is that the guy has content featuring Elise Silva, the porn star who got popped earlier this year for having sex with a 15 year old boy. I'm sure he got a nice surge in sales from all the search engine traffic from people wanting to check her out. I promote the program and made some sales from galleries featuring Elise. I don't think that the guy who runs it is making a mint from the site and its just something he does part time. NextDoorAmateur.com has an Alexa rank of about 99,000, where BangBus.com is ranked 3,000 or so Click here Alexa rankings are not the best way to gauge profit, but it does give a clue about the popularity of site.
If you and your friends decide to 'invest' $60k in porn, you are going to lose your shirts. Why don't you just start a link list site or a porn blog as a hobby?
The real question should be, Why do you really want a porn site.
To run a sucessful business and make money or to have sex with pornstars? It's a fair question. The latter is probably the biggest reason for most guys want to get into porn.
I'm guessing alot of those "amateur" sites are just that. Guys shelling out cash to bang pornstars, but most probably never make a decent profit. That's cool if it's just a hobby I guess.
In my opinion, if that's is the REAL reason, save your money.
If having sex with porn stars is the reason, look up the ones that escort.
The "I'm into ____" is a bad reason to start a company without a lot of research and having a good buisness sense of an industry. Everybody eats, some are real "foodies", many of those are even great cooks. Some get the bright idea of combining their love of food with a buisness - a restaurant. That is why the attrition rate of new restaurants is so large.
BrunoB is a guy from montreal, he bang new pornstar(understand unknown for the moment) most of the time, he shoot pow style most of the time too with a camera that look not that pro...
And he is online since a bunch of years, so i supose he dosen't loose money with that...
so in my opinion most people can do it as long as they have some knowledge of the thing, and the right girls to shoot.
I don't know about "most people" being able to do it, but if you have lots of money to spend you can pretty much start any kind of business. Running a sucessful business is another story. You need a plan, and you also need to know the risks.
Nothing is more riskier than producing porn. Lots of legal issues to deal with, and lots of jail time if you have your legal shit together!

If you look into BrunoB he has his "movies" also distributed by Doghouse Digital/Mile High in Montreal so he is somehow affiliated with them. And some of the girls who are in his clips on his site are Doghouse Digital girls or freelance Montreal porn stars. Also James you have to remember that Montreal is what we here in Canada call the Smut Capital of Canada. Toronto is all about money as it is a business city. BrunoB has had his site out for quite some time now as the novelty of "reality" porn has become so saturated that only BrunoB, BangBros sites, 8th Street Latinas, CumOnHerFace.com, AmateurFacials.com are a select few who have a following and a good name in the online porn industry and will be making money in my thoughts. Any new venture many people will be skeptical about because of the over saturation of online porn. Anyone can do it sure, but does anyone have that amount of money to lose and what about the women? Lots of legal issues have to be addressed beforehand. I am sure many thought Bang Bus was real and there was a discalimer at one time if you clicked it it said something along the lines that each episode is staged and that the women are aware of what is taking place and scenes are acted out in a "reality" fashion and is all fantasy> Not sure if they say that now as everyone knows it is all staged. Many believe that they just film banging some chick they meet on the street but that can't be done as they have to follow the 18 U.S.C. 2257 Record-Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement
wow. we have alot to consider. is there anybody out there who knows a good lawyer for adult entertainment around the New York area. if so...please put email address. thanks

I'd consider just giving up...but that's just me. Too many want to be a pornstar for the wrong reasons. I'm happy slaving for the man, as long as I know I'm making good money in something I don't mind doing.
The other way to look at it is, it's your $$...blow it, but don't come crying after all the great advice you got here.
This isn't "Mr. Girth" of the clothing line by chance, is it?
no clothing line. but we'll probably take a crack at it. you only live once....and hell, if i lose money, then so be it, atleast it was for something i enjoyed.
