I did got a 4k camera to shoot for my website, but I heard it's not as popular right now. I can't put 4k on a dvd and my members wont be able to download it b/c it's so big.

Hi Lauren,
you can't put anything other than SD video on a DVD, both HD and 4K videos must downscaled for DVD. Offer 4K download as an option on your site alongside other resolutions.

I don't know the true popularity. If UHD-Blu-rays are any indication, the market isn't huge. Part of the decision for you will be whether massively increased file size and bandwith are financially worth it. Either way, I would still shot and edit in 4K. If you choose to release it in 1080p and 480p right now that still leaves you the option to release the 2160p file at a later date. It also leaves the option for if you ever lease out the footage to a VOD store like Adult DVD Empire or HotMovies the ability for them to have the 2160p file. I honestly don't know if you get more money for that or not.
You are probably best off asking other site owners that have tried or do offer the 4K files and see if it sounds worth it to you or not.

Shooting at 2160p and downconverting to 1080p is also likely to result in somewhat better quality video than shooting natively at 1080p. (As long as the conversion is done properly, of course.)
FWIW, I'm doubtful that 2160p downloads are a worthwhile thing to include for personal performer websites at this time. There might be a few people who will simply subscribe to any site because it offers 2160p, but for the overwhelming majority the main criterion still applies first, i.e. "do I find this one performer interesting enough to pay for a subscription?". I can't imagine that 2160p availability will make any significant difference there.

UHD downloads are certainly feasible and sites are offering them, but they are not the best solution for most content creators at this point in time, due to the massive file sizes and lack of access to the latest video encoding tech, which has been locked down due to threats of royalty payments, per video download. Right now, it's best to just shoot UHD footage and release FHD/HD videos. You can go back and release them in UHD down the line, when it's easier to do. Also, the display industry is transitioning to UHD from FHD displays right now, so it will be two more years before UHD is really widespread on laptops, desktops, and tablets. By then, a new royalty-free UHD codec should be in play and you can use that for your website video offerings.
