Hi
I'm fairly new to this game and I wondered if anyone had any advice on how to break into the industry as a director/cameraman.
I have shot a few independant movies in my native England but the talent is severely lacking over here so I'm heading to the US. Without being too bigheaded or anything I think I know what makes a good scene and I really want to prove I have what it takes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated (Apart from things like "Don't bother" or is that just what people in the UK industry say???)
I look forward to reading any and all replies soon
Thank you for your time

I don't have any but I have read tons of it here. I realize it might be a bit intimidating but use the search function. Try setting it to the porn pool only and set the time frame to 1999-present and have at it. You are going to have lots of reading to do and might need to refine your searches a few times but you will find what you are looking for.
It's likely that some industry people will add to this thread. But in the mean time if you take the time you'll find it's been discussed at length before many many times.
Good luck

Honestly, "don't bother" is solid advice. There are several super-talented shooters who can't find a gig right now to save their lives. Perhaps, "display extreme mediocrity and a willingness to lick the ass of idiot studio owners and work for chickenfeed" will get you a gig.
Unless you are willing to be your own male talent, and start shooting your own self-funded web stuff, but everyone does that now. The US industry is slowly collapsing, and unless you are already onboard or tight with people who are, the odds of securing a steady gig in porno are pretty low. You can always rent an overpriced dump in Van Nuys, and join the legions of BTS guys, cum-moppers and driver/PA dudes, and supplement the measley pay by working as a mope dropping loads on Saturday mornings, and in about five years maybe you'll work up to getting a few try out shoots ... I don't know. The scenario out there looks pretty grim to me, esp,. if you haven't paid any dues and no one knows you.

find a director who was recently fired or maybe an x wife of a company owner, anyone who may have alarm codes or keys and befriend them, then get them drunk and ask lots of questions, or you could get a warehouse job and case the place, I'm sure security isn't "all that" and since most porn companies are in industrial areas once you know the lay out it's just a matter of choosing your night! I would listen to some of the "don't bother" advice as most of the theft seems to be internal, even brothers stealing from brothers and employers ripping off their directors but hey, nothing ventured nothing gained!

Yeah, its looking pretty grim..The piracy is starting to really become a big problem
But I liken the Porn Industry to the Current State of Affairs in the Music Industry.
People are losing jobs, Content is being massuploaded and viewed illegally and freely on the internet, but the one constant is...If you are talented, creative and have a vision that you know will gain loyal fans..Then the world is your oyster. Or Vulva

payday agree with you if you put a product out there that can stand on its own you will be able to survive. that said to come in out of no where and not have a fan base would be very hard
all i can say if i had a ton of money i would do it in a heart beat and give the girls a ton of control you give them a bigger reason to shoot for you and i feel you get a better performance with them knowing they get something out of it in the end also

The porn industry is in my opinion is a "Bring your on pussy" industry. Load up some of those fine English babes and come on over.
If you show up with 2 or 3 big tit English Babes people will talk to you.
By yourself you will end up living in the alley.
