If you don't have a Firewire port but you do have a USB2 port (I'm not sure but I think USB2 is at least as fast as Firewire), maybe you could buy some kind of adapter to plug your Firewire cable into and the USB2 cable would go out to your Mac. I have no idea if such a device actually exists but it seems like it would. Cost might be a concern.
What exactly are you trying to do? Do you want to edit or do you just want to get footage from a DV camera onto your Mac?
Here is just such a product. The page says they're sold out of the NTSC version and they only have PAL but I would imagine similar products are available elsewhere.
