Be prepared for higher fees... but they're great in dealing with the headache that talent can cause sometimes. 2) Backpage.com - This is the new version of Craigslist... although not as widely used. You can find talent here, but it'll be more pimp/ho oriented. Still, it's good for getting your feet wet. 3) Word of mouth - Believe me when I tell you that word will spread. If you have money to spend, once you do a couple shoots... people will start to know you and hit you up for work. I always offer referral fees to the people I work with because word of mouth is a great way to drum in new business. Everyone likes to make money for doing little work and having people find talent for you and paying them for their work is a heck of a lot easier than doing it yourself. I have a one page 'script' I use for every shoot. I coach each performer on what I want and also what I don't want. I'm very specific without trying to take their personality out of the shoot. I explain to them what makes a great shoot and that my goal is to make them look great and to have the publisher want more content with them. More content means more work for them. I assemble a packet for each shoot of about 4 pages; one is for the pre-shoot on camera legal stuff (10 questions), one is an outline of a storyboard, one is focused on still photos and the final one is my boiler plate 'What Makes a Great Video' coaching script. I review the last one with them just before the shoot begins, then I tell them to have fun......lights, camera, action! [Link] |
