How do you think this will affect the future of adult video. Right now HD DVD has a larger library of adult video in addition more adult studios. Perhaps... -it will slow down the migration of adult video to high definition -increase the cost to studios and consumers -be a barrier for studios without deep pockets Your oppinions are appreciated. In an attempt to unify the global broadcasting system HD is the new standard for all broadcasting and movie production. This will be the case for years to come, just as we have had a 4x3 NTSC standard since the beginning of all broadcasting. Blu-ray is only more information packed into the same 6x9 format as HD plus the java script infusion that makes all the menus and functions happen on a Blu-ray disc. Anything shot in HD can be converted to Blu-ray, in other words everything that companies are creating in HD today, can be later released in blu-ray. Soon the government will require all non HD t.v.'s use an adapter in order to receive HD brodcasts though the resolution will be lower if you don't have a HD t.v.

Porn will bypass the Blu-ray technology and focus more on VOD and streaming while keeping a foothold with standard DVD. The replication costs for Blu-ray will deter most porn studios from releasing in this format. Porn DVDs don't sell like they used to and Blu-ray isn't going to change that. [Link] |

I view all my porn on the laptop. So there's no longer any difference between downloaded and DVD for me. DVD I still prefer, but the relatively short clips of a single scene actually make for enjoyable repeat viewing. Once I get an HD screen, maybe I'll invest in a Blu-Ray player, but most of the stuff I want to see isn't made in Blu-Ray, and a major reason for an HD set is not because it can be 50 inches, it's for the HDMI input ... so I can watch downloaded AVI files and AVI discs, playing out of my laptop. I think improved visual delivery of porn can be a bonus ... but on the other hand, gonzo to me always = Sony VX2000's, and a certain LACK of smoothness. Gonzo is documentary at heart, so local TV newsteam handheld style is practially erotic in and of itself. Cheap, fast and dirty. We'll see how it goes. I still have some old VHS tapes I found in the closet. I'll probably throw them out tomorrow. But I think if all porn gets too slick looking it won't be porn anymore. [Link] |

Of course, the day is coming when you can have Jake Malone movies transmitted into a subdermal transistor and projected on the inside of your eyeballs. [Link] |

+1 to skronker I hope that the studios will continue releasing normal DVD's for a long time cause i'm not willing and even more NOT ABLE to afford an HD or Bluray player. I'd rather invest that money in precious porn...and since I don't mind watching older hot scenes on VHS I think I don't need high quality picture quality. Just make good porn! [Link] |

i recently purchased the samsung dual HD-DVD/Blu-ray player just before the recent announcements seeming to indicate the "victory" of blu-ray. the video quality of HD porn is amazing, although there is a need for more titles, and the player can't yet play the most recent Digital Playground HD-DVDs, although firmware updates are supposed to take care of such issues. i expect at least some releases on Blu-ray, as there will be a great number of players out there, the higher priced titles will make up for the higher production costs. with so much porn shot in HD but wasted on regular DVD, it won't be that hard to put out the best titles, and Digital Playground at least is starting to crank out Blu-rays. i don't disagree with the above posters that downloading has taken over much of the DVD business and will limit Blu-ray & HD-DVD porn, but i greatly prefer the video quality from regular DVDs and now HD-DVDs over computer porn, and am willing to spend money to purchase physical media. with so much porn still released on DVD, as long as a small percentage is released in HD, I'll be satisfied. HD DVD is dead. Quote: TOKYO--Toshiba Corporation today announced that it has undertaken a thorough review of its overall strategy for HD DVD and has decided it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. This decision has been made following recent major changes in the market. Toshiba will continue, however, to provide full product support and after-sales service for all owners of Toshiba HD DVD products. http://www.toshiba.co.jp/about/press/2008_02/pr1903.htm Hopefully this will be the needed stimulus for the adult studios to start releasing their goods en masse on HD/Blu-Ray. There is a market for quality releases and now that the HD format war is officially over the decision should be a nobrainer. The center of home entertainment is still most often a big screen TV in the living room and downloads are not there just yet. We might expect to see Full HD (1080p + decent bitrate + the right codec) VOD to be more commonplace in five to ten year time span. The current HD VOD is pretty much crap compared to that (usually delivered in highly compressed 720p). [Link] |

I really hope HD-DVD (in whatever format) is adopted by more porn comapnies in the future - personally I want BETTER quality picture, not lower quality downloads. Mind you, the fact that many people opt for MP3's over CDs - despite the lower sound quality - means I'm not overly optimistic... [Link] |

I don't like it at all.. I don't wanna see every single stretchmark, pimple on the girls.. I like normal shot movies best, because it doesn't show as many flaws. [Link] |
