I've seen a few, and those were quite good, not the greatest but certainly viewable and whackable. I still have my copy of #98, because of those reasons. But perhaps a reason why no one talks about this series is because there are lots of volumes, same can be said for Ed Powers, both guys turn out product at a breakneck speed it seems, and both are transfered onto DVD by the same company, New Machine, which could also be another factor? I can understand why people are tired of seeing Randy West (though I don't mind; he's a nice guy in person), but he still has a lot of hot girls and the sex is less mechanically and robotically performed than in most of today's glonzo glut. I think the bigger reason the U&C series isn't talked about here is that the job New Machine has done on them leave much to be desired. What I've seen has been a straight transfer, and unlike DVDs from the rest of the Evil Empire, didn't really give anything that couldn't be found on the VHS. I have a very hard time justifying paying $20 for a DVD when all I get is the movie and maybe a photo gallery. It takes a lot of extremely hot sex for me to justify it, and I haven't seen that from Randy. I will admit that I haven't seen a lot of the series (which I intend to change fairly soon), but Randy also has a habit of chopping up scenes so that if you like a star you have to pick up several DVDs to get all of her work with him. This really ticks me off, and is part of the reason I haven't paid too much attention to the series. [Link]

The new releases probably sell for $20, but otherwise they are bargain-priced. I loved UC/DD in their early years, and I think Randy at least still gets some high-end talent. My theory about it all is simply that there IS so much more competition now, and if I have a choice of watching a newbie in a Mike John-directed romp, with tons of extras and good male talent, then I'll choose that title rather than U&C, with Randy's endless greasy chatter and the boring-as-fuck setups (let's face it, RW is no JJ). His one advantage is that the sex is "realer," and sometimes the girls are so new that they project a vulnerable air that's quitr a turn on. But it grosses me out to watch the man in action (not as bad as Ed though -- that's just tragedy). On the other hand, Joey Silvera is roughly the same age and certainly no mega-stud, but I kind of enjoy watching him. Maybe it's because he's nuts. Anyway, I still buy and watch U&C -- esp. for $12, and esp. for the "memory lane" aspect of glimpsing starlets who have come and gone (usually with implants), back before they'd scored their first tattoo or done their first bukkake. Plus, I do believe that Evil Angel was just starting to transfer their titles to DVD at this time. (I would love to see Greg Dark's titles rereleased by Evil Angel.) Evil Angel distributes his movies on VHS. Regardless of what one thinks of his movies, Randy was ahead of the curve when it came to DVD. He was ready to get into DVD before Evil Angel was ready to support DVD. Rather than patiently waiting, he hooked up with another company that was ahead of the curve (at the time), to distribute his product on DVD. My guess is that he got locked into a long term contract with New Machine and, if it were possible, he would probably currently prefer if his DVD's were released by Evil Angel. [Link]
