I don't know where you are seeing alot of mustaches, though, as that was a pretty late 70's phenomemon. Leather is kind of a niche as well.

My understand of the twink vs hunk debate is this:

Younger men seem to be into the older hunky muscle men (either they are looking for a father figure, or are attracted to the body that they wish they had).

Older men are more into the young twink type (for the same reasons that old straight guys go for the young dumb blondes, but also many older gay men do feel their biological clock ticking, and since most can't have actual kids, it is nice to have some younger gay kid look up to you for guidence... and of course a good fucking every now and then.)

Of course, this is all a huge generalization, and probably get flamed by those who disagree, but oh well.

As for me, a 26 year old, when I was out looking for sex, I tended to go for the older guys, but when it came time for an actual relationship, I went with someone my own age.

In general, muscular and hairy goes hand in hand with older men, while nonmuscular and smooth tend to be your younger twinkies.

I don't know why, but there is just something unappealing about scrawny young boys going at it (see my review of First Time 5 for the details).

but..I think if theres an unbalance in the types of guys featured in DVDs its because of the studios that are currently releasing DVDs.. most studios that produce alot of films (All Worlds, Studio 2000, Falcon etc) tend to drift torward the all around "gay ideal" of a youngish toned musculer guy, but not really, macho or oozing testosterone..while produceing a handful of films that feature one type of guy or the other. I think this dominates the currently available DVDs

But there are also studios that specialise in one type of guy. Many of the studios that produce films with younger, Smoother Twinks .. are not yet producing DVDs (Bel-Ami being a big one).. while studios like Titan and Colt, who produce movies featureing older more masculine men are making DVDs... this might offset the Balance

theres plenty of audience for both types.
