In trying to format the disk in my diminished state, I accidently deleted the primary partition. There was no data on the drive yet as I hadn't loaded or run the backup program, but after that my computer wouldn't recognize the drive. I gave up on the whole mess to go to sleep, but I just woke up bedsore and restless in the wee hours and thought I'd post a cry for help. What I can do to restore the primary partition and get on with things? Or is my new drive DOA due to my idiocy? [Link] |

It will take a little while to re-configure your system from there. The recovery disk will allow you to re-format your harddrive, and from there you can do whatever you like, such as installing xp.
