The documentary I Always Said Yes: The Many Lives of Wakefield Poole is out on Vimeo and coming to other U.S. VOD services this Friday. The documentary covers the life of Wakefield Poole, who make such notable films as Bijou, Boys in the Sand, and Bible! (all available from Vinegar Syndrome). Vinegar Syndrome has the release of Take One, with Moving! coming out later this month.
The documentary, by Jim Tushinski, is absolutely amazing. While Poole is a gay adult filmmaker, I put this in The Feature Side because I think it will be of interest to some of the participants in this forum since he made classic films that went beyond just sex.

Great interview Flash! Disappointing to hear the trouble they had getting the doc into film festivals, even gay film festivals! Ridiculous that kind of stuff still goes on in an era when porn is so ubiquitous. Hyporcrisy is alive and well.

Nice - I will read this on my lunch break today.
I mentioned how good this doc was here (in the documentary thread) but I saw an earlier version of this film. Jim says this newer version is different enough to warrant watching again, so I will. Looking forward to that.

Watched this last night with my wife and we both enjoyed it. Wish they had included some more footage from Bijou to give viewers more of an idea of the surreal power of the film and surprised there wasn't a bit more on the losses of the AiDS crisis but I'm sure it must have been difficult to fit everything in. I had no idea about his close connection to Harvey Milk and his career in dance and Broadway was nicely fleshed out. Imagine if Wakefield had managed to keep ahold of all those Warhols of his?
