there have been a couple of posts lately that don't make sense. First of all, several people on here have been "upset" that some pornstars are escorting. They want to watch their favorite stars do pussy, anal, lesbian, DP, A2M, and whatever else there is but, Never escorting. Do we neede to look at the defenition of a prostitute? it is "one that exchanges sex for money". Therefore I don't see what the difference is.

My second point is that there was another post about "Porn titles should be chosen with more respect". Do I need to ring the reality bell here? Come on people lets get some common sense. If you take stars that do whatever they do on film and then you are concerned about a title? When you are watching your movies are you concerned about respecting the male and female performers? Ya Right!

I know that some people will be all over this like flies on shit but, it's the truth. I don't know anyone here and I am in no way pointing to anyone. I just don't see the connection in what is being said. Everyone can believe whatever they want and just maybe there is some point to be made. I just don't see it. I like porn as much as the next, I am just trying to point out things I think are being said.

It isn't strictly necessary to use derogatory terms to describe sex workers of any type. No particular reason to think that prostitutes are better or worse than porn stars.

mrpeeepers - first of all I love your avatar!

I agree there are several posts that don't make sense, however I would submit to you that your post is an opinion and is only the "truth" as you see it.

I personally don't understand why or how a pornstar's escorting would affect ones ability to enjoy her on screen performances. My view is it is her body and she can do what she wants with it. However I do see how the girls are able to draw a distinction between the two. I imagine it is quite different having sex in front of a film crew with another performer who is also being paid to have sex with you, then it is to have sex behind locked doors with random strangers who are paying a large sum of money to have you pleasure him. Think about it from the girls perspective it can be quite different, weather or not one is better or worse is another question, but it is not the same thing.

I personally agree about the titles. There are several reasons why titles like "A Cum Sucking Whore Named..." or "...AKA Filthy Whore" are offensive to me. Not only do I think it is disrespectful to the performer, but I find it disrespectful as the consumer. I realize there are probably some people out there who might love these titles, and I suppose they are entitled.

"When you are watching your movies are you concerned about respecting the male and female performers? Ya Right! "

I think you might be surprised just how many people do hold a level of respect for these performers. Why shouldn't they deserve our respect? Are you suggesting they deserve less respect than other people.

Yes I realize that names like slut, prostitute, bitch, whore, ect. are bound to be used in association with pornstars, but the connotation in which they are used can cross the line in my opinion.

Just wanted to add my two cents on this one.

This was posted more towards the viewers getting upset. I don't see how the titles are so bad either. Why is it that no one is complaining about the dirty talk during the sex or the act itself? Come on people, you are worried about a "title" when the act in itself and what the viewer wants and is thinking are one in the same?

I'm not sure you got my post entirely. No the titles themselves are not "SO" bad, but I certainly do not care for them, but it is to be expected that someone will try to package porn in this fashion unfortunately.

Let me put it this way I am not embarrassed to own porn, but I would be embarrassed to own a dvd with a title like those.

I disagree with the implication that sex is somehow demeaning or degrading, especially to women. I understand that some people like it that way, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to agree with it. Personally, I love women and don't care to judge their worthiness based upon the sex acts they're willing to perform, on or off camera.

In regards to the "dirty talk" it is only offensive if done a-la Max Hardcore, in which case people have complained. Bear in mind that dirty talk can be done in the sense of play, in which case why would we object to it?

Yes I am, which is one reason why I don't watch stuff made by a certain someone who will go unmentioned.

I don't like violence in porn. I don't like truly rough sex. I do like mildly rough sex when it is clear to me that the performers are indeed having fun, and it's consensual.

There are several porn starlets that I truly love, and though I might have a chance in hell at getting with them, it's my fantasy. And in my fantasy I don't slap them, hit them, or call names that begin with "W" or "S".

Good one, Don from Denver.

I'll call them "Sugar, Sweetheart, Snugglebuns, Wicked, Wonderful" etc..

I'd call them that too... or even "wildly sugary sweet"

But for those who don't know what I meant, I meant a word that rhymes with "door", and a word that rhymes with "hut".

Hell, I call almost all of the porn starlets "girls" in my reviews, I probably get a few thoughts over that one.

Where did violence and rough sex come into this? I don't like that either. How can you watch a DP and still be bothered by the name whore or slut? RING RING.... I am ringing the reality bell.

I think worst than calling her a whore, slut or whatever (some girls like to be called like that you know) is spitting into the girl's mouth, now that's is worst than offensive, that shit is just plain disgasting. But in reality I would prefer for the guys in the sex scenes to shut the fuck up! The less I hear from them, the better. ..About Porn titles, do you really pay attention to that?? ..If My favorite girl is in the video taking it up the ass, I couldn't care less about no stupid title. mmmmm lets see a guy buying or not buying a specific video 'cos what the title says mmmmmmmmmmmmmm I don't know that sounds more like what a girlie girl would do.(no that there is anything wrong with that) but please give me a break. You will have to be a very impressionable fellow to chosse your porn videos that way.

Wally,

You said that for your tastes a guy to spitting into a girl's mouth is disgusting. That boggles my mind.

How is that disgusting when one of our favorite companies have the guy making the girl toss his salad and swallow his cum. And we (raincoaters) look for these hardcore girls who do all that with double anal, etc. For the most part that's who we really like, not the Vivid stars who don't do guys or anal.

To me, that sounds like you're saying, "Eat his shit and drink his cum, but for the love of God don't kiss him!"

It's SPIT. Not SHIT.

Spitting in a girls mouth? A girl licking a guys ass? What the hell? Girls spit on guys cocks. Guys LOVE to lick a girls ass. What the hell are you talking about? Talk about a double standard!

Mrpeepers,

For what it's worth, I don't think it's really productive to discuss double standards when it comes to porn tastes unless you really start to get down to what these acts really mean to each individual (both performers and viewers).

I don't speak for Wally, but he probably finds spitting offensive because he INTERPRETS it as offensive, whereas dirty talk, especially if the women is into it and participating, is a kind of play acting. When it comes down to it, yes, ass licking is technically dirtier than sharing saliva, but the difference here is the intent behind the the acts, and more importantly the interpretation of those acts by the viewers and the performers. Again, Wally probably has his own things to say and I don't speak for him, I can only speak for me. Just as you can only speak for you.

My point is, though, that it's not fair to discuss these acts according to how YOU interpret them, or how you THINK other people interpret them and then assume that a different act has the same meaning for everyone. You have to go to a deeper level. That goes for ass licking, pussy licking, finger licking, and yes, even the very titles of the videos that include all these things.

I'm certainly not answering your question mrpeepers. It's a very good and complex question, and I simply don't KNOW the answer, but in order to make fair comparisons, we have to start from a common ground, and that common ground is not a single person's interpretation of how much one act is more degrading than the other. Those kinds of arguments won't lead anywhere.

Just my opinion. :)

Well, I don't think there is a double standar here. I love anal, dps, dpps, daps, gangbangs and every circus act you can name. But I stop short the moment the fucking is interrupted by disgasting silliness. To exchange saliva by kissing is one thing but to spit into the girl's mouth from the distance like if she was some kind of toilet, just for the sake of being "nasty" is just plain disgasting. I don't know if somebody can understand this but I do not want to see guys shiting on the girl, I want to see guys fucking the shit out of the girl. (does that makes sense to you?) For instance what is so great about watching a girl rimming a guy?!? ..wouldn't be alot more erotic, sexy, arousing to see a guy licking the girl's ass to completion? ...One more, instead of the guy spitting on the girl's ass before the anal in order to lubricate her asshole, wouldn't be a lot more erotic, for the guy to get a sloppy bj from the girl and then use her own saliva on the guy's dick to penetrate the girl up in the ass??

very interesting post, Im with you all the way Wally futhermore I don't understand why anyone would be offended by a box title especally when the girl on the tape is lickin a guys ass and doing everything else who gives a damn if the title is degrading these women don't care or they wouldn't be on these tapes, so why should we. I throught everyone knew pornstars were escorts anyone heartbroken over that needs to wake up, they are who they are

Actually, many of us do. I'd slap any guy silly who called me a whore to my face. I love getting fucked in the ass, sure, but it doesn't make me a whore or slut. It makes me a woman with a really strong sexual appetite. A lot stronger than most men, in fact.

Oh, and by the way, we aren't ALL escorts.

Well put Tricia,

Actually, for the number of girls that are in the biz, and get in the biz, it seems that a pretty small number actually escort. Dance, tour, go to school, have personal relationships, but not escort.

clearly a lot of us care or these threads wouldn't have gotten started. if more porn celebrated sexually aggressive women instead of denigrating women, perhaps more women would get into watching porn and performing in it, perhaps so many women wouldn't find sex shameful or embarrassing. erotic movies have the potential to help free women who've been brought up with restrictive puritan notions of sex. but titles calling women filthy whores further divide the sexes and makes women think all porn is degrading.

In other words, if you would like to have actual women participate in the ribald acts with you, maybe you shouldn't call them pigs while they are doing it!

Well said Steph. I don't think it does a service to young men either to reinforce the idea that a woman has to be a whore or a slut to like sex, especially 'non-standard' sex. I realize that most porn producers aren't concerned about that, but if they want to claim their vids are educational maybe they should be.

Finally, I'd like to suggest that such titles are totally unnecessary to sell the product, unless there's nothing else going for it.

I stand with Steph and Hardware (and ayb, and SQUID, and ML...etc)

I have spoken with young men who are conflicted over whether it is alright for their girlfriends to have sexual appetites, or who are dealing with serious shame for feeling that they have participated in acts that are somehow unwholesome.

Very young men feel that they are expected to leap into sex as whole, fully functioning sexual beings, but it takes them a while to get oriented. It's a disservice to young men and women to label normal sexuality as filth. It is unnecessary to market so much porn so extremely.

Nice Ladies that Enjoy Intercourse sounds tongue-in-cheek, and vaguely appealing, maybe even a little twisted. But let's not pretend it's the only alternative to "cum-sucking whore"

oops, 'some of us' are cross-talking to this thread

I must be missing something here. This is Porn we are talking about here. Hardcore porn at that! Why are you guys trying to bring morals into this? Do you really think that porn is supposed to be wholesome?

since when does showing a fellow human being respect an anti-porn, puritan issue. It isn't about your morals it is about common courtesy.

Porn covers the spectrum from nasty, nasty, degrading types, to the wholesome sex.

As long as the wholesome sex is explicitly displayed, it still is classified as porn.

MLyons is right. This type of argument doesn't lead anywhere.

We are each seeing something different when we look at the same inkblot. Our statements tell more about ourselves than they do about porn.

So let me get this straight.

Some of us are bothered by the social attitude that sex is dirty, wretched, abusive, manipulative and generally icky. Gosh, how enlightened are we?
We're bothered that businesses we think should be trying to change that social attitude by portraying sex as something acceptable and positive are more interested in making money off the status quo. Okay, we're not enlightened, we're naive.

The basic difference between being a pornographic performer and being a prostitute is that when you're a performer, you're being paid, along with your co-performer, to PERFORM. You get paid to make it LOOK good. You don't get paid to get the other performer off, you don't get paid to get the director off, and you aren't paid to be someone's therapist for an hour. You just get paid to be in front of a camera doing what you're told. It's a cooperative effort towards making a product. Prostitution isn't product oriented, it's a service industry.
I don't think there's anything wrong with prostitution. I can't think of any other thing that it is legal to give away but illegal to sell. It's obviously a social contrivance. What it's contriving to do I haven't quite made my mind up about. Placing a distinct value (money) on sexual congress could be empowering for women - which might certainly have a strong effect on our basically patriarchal society. Relieving men of the burden of commitment (relationships) would certainly rock the boat of our nuclear family oriented culture. Of course, I'm on the side of changing those things... but most people are not! The closeted sexual economy should be taken out of the dark ages of the barter system (marriage) and brought forward. Tax it, regulate it, zone it, get it out of the streets and brothels and put it on Wall Street. Demystify sex, and make the distinction between emotional caring and lust, the difference between intimacy and intercourse. Get me off this soapbox, I'm afraid of heights...
