Here are the questions, instead of all those links: Does this seem too good to be true? I have some DVDs I'm trying to sell. Someone e-mailed me saying he'll trade. The DVDs for an iPod Touch. But, he said that he'll send the iPod the same day I send the DVDs. Too good to be true, or should I go for it (I've been trying to sell these DVDs for a while, and an iPod Touch sounds sweet!) The DVDs are worth $128 and the iPod Touch is worth $400 (he says he got it as a gift). Can I have the post office delay a package? I made an agreement with someone online that if I sent some DVDs I didn't want to him, he would send me an iPod Touch the same day. I sent the DVDs and gave him the tracking # like he asked. I asked that he send the iPod and email me a tracking # also. It's been 36 hours since I sent the package, and he hasn't emailed me about sending the iPod. I think I got screwed over :-( I insured the package, if that would help? My question is, would I be able to have the Tennessee post office (it's destination) hold it, or whoever. until he sends me the iPod? Or something like that? I've been really busy, and have delayed sending the DVDs because of that, so I'm kinda giving him the benefit of the doubt. Is he holding it off like I did to him, or is he actually too busy? Is this okay? Does this seem like an okay email? "It's been 18 days since you said you shipped the iPod. I expected you to follow through with our deal. Please prove to me you sent the iPod, send me the iPod Touch if you haven't already (with a tracking #), or send me $128.77." I e-mailed him, and, for some reason, I got this: Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out. : 64.12.137.89 does not like recipient. Remote host said: 550 MAILBOX NOT FOUND Giving up on 64.12.137.89. I got screwed over! Damnit! Not sure if they would have to investigate & unless the scammer is stupid, it's going to be a he said / she said what was actually sent. You'll need the report anyway to file a small claim - only problem is that you would have to be present @ court in that county. 2nd thought - since it's fraud (you haven't been paid or compensated for your dvds) & it involved the mail, it's actually a USPS Inspector issue. Talk to your local post office & see what they can do - you shouldn't have to mention what the items were that you mailed. If he's done this several times before, they may already have a file started. VERY IMPORTANT - BEFORE you contact the USPS though, I'd check adultdvdempire for the prohibited ship-to zip codes.... would hate to file a report with the USPS only to have them come back on you. Also, there were several medical judgments ahead of us, so I don't think we'll see one dime of it. Could have saved my vacation time & effort & wound up with the same thing - nothing. [Link] |
