I just assumed that the poem was part of the play and had been adapted into the movie version. I just looked it up and can't seem to find anything like it from Shakespeare, though I did find the authors that are credited with the version in the movie here. I have to say again though: Pocketcomb, that is an incredible adaptation. Made me smile reading it and made a friend of mine, who is a big Julie fan, laugh when I read it to him. Good job. Dr. P |

I was going to make a poem a semi regular thread here, but I can see that it would not only be difficult to stay fresh, but it would quite oftem be likened to another parellel that I have not considered. I'm glad you like Julie and the poem. |

Oh - and I really like the movie. It's the first time I saw Heath Ledger. I've seen it probably 10 times on DirecTV. |

And for some reason I just now thought of the great 10 Things parody in Not Another Teen Movie . Janie's got a gun indeed. Edited by - tscfan317 on 8/28/2005 2:16:39 AM |

I have found said poem, I have read said poem, and I assure you that mine is 100% original. I will concede that the sentiment is the same. I don't hate Julie, infact she is on my all time top 5 list. Excerpt from 10 things I Hate About You, copyright Buena Vista, 1999 "I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all." I'll close by saying that if my count is correct, I list 7 things that I hate about Julie, not 10. I also don't find much humor in the above soliloquy. PCP is all about being original, but I will admit that this is not the first time my writting have been likened to Shakespear. ~Fin |
