I think the softcore genre needs more love. Nobody seems to like softcore anymore. People wanna see a muffin being shat out into someone's mouth, I don't wanna see that. Softcore is great. You just have 1, possibly 2 girls getting naked in front of the camera. Isn't that fabulous.
That's what us "old timers" called a nudie cutie flick. Softcore generally refers to simulated sex, not just simple nudity. Ha. I'm not an old timer though. I'm far too young! I am at heart though...
You must be in heaven with your Cinemax subscription. Am happy for you. Us old timers who suffered thru years of nudie. sofcore, x. xx films to get where we are today are glad we have what we have. Some sweet young thing walking down the street and two minutes later a guy is piling a big one in her ass and 20 minutes planting a face full of cum on her is what many of us have waited for these many years. We had to suffer thru all the bad stuff to get where we are today. We have "Black Ice" and "Cinemax" hopefully something for everyone. Try Playboys Spanish Channel. They have a lot of artsie softcare stuff that you might like. Wayne In Dallas
I do like me some Andrew Blake, although it usually cranks me up until I just need to gonzo out. Still, a little Blake material in the mornings give me a good boost of energy for the day!
I like the softcore such as the stockings/legs/heels fetish stuff by jbvideo.com. It is not simulated sex because there are no men, heavy on the tease; usually solo, but with real toy play and penetration. This is better than Cinemax because there is no pretense of a plot or storyline or hetro sex or other annoying distractions. It's the ultimate for those who can't get enough tease from the typical gonzo or feature porn. The downside is that many of my favorite performers don't do this sort of softcore and the few companies which produce it tend to lock in on a narrow range of girls.
If there is penetration of any sort, it is NOT softcore. Softcore only refers to simulated sex. When anything penetrates anything else, it is no longer simulated.

Wow. I'm not that old, and I watch Russ Meyer, Radley Metzger, Paul Morrissey, Roberta Findlay, Jess Franco, Joe D'Amato, Pete Walker, and Mac Ahlberg films all the time. I'm not saying this is the case with youjunglew, but I hope I'm never so jaded that these films seem insufferable.
So a pantyhose fetish vid where the girl rubs a vibrator over her pantyhose-covered pussy is softcore, but if she tears a small hole in the hose it becomes not-softcore? And the fact that it's solo doesn't matter?
I like Andrew Blake and Ninn, these two seem to find the perfect blend of softcore and hardcore in their features. The "Fem" series from Ninn has softcore elements as well as hardcore. Blake movies such as "High Heels, Girlfriends, The Villa, Secret Paris have always seemed to me as the next step up from say a penthouse video (remember the videos with the pets). I think Blake really has softcore down perfectly and could show many a thing or two. Just the shot on film of a womens body, legs, ass, face etc... can really be arousing, it doesnt always have to be about double penetration, cream pies and whatever else. Oh did I mention I would really love to see say a Teagan in a Blake feature. I challenge anyone to go out and watch Blakes High Heels and watch the scene where Kelly Havel walks up and down the streets of Rome in her lingerie and tell me that is not a turn on. Just the shots of her legs and her beautiful ass, I think ill watch that tonight. Or in Blakes Girlfriends April Flowers leg show, that is so simple yet so hot!! Its more of an April ass show more than anything. Check it out guys
Blacksix, be careful in trying to interpret someones thread. You are not anygood at it. I watched a few Russ Meyer films but he was more interested in blood as much as simulated sex. We watched them because we had nothing else at the time. Can get stimulated just watching a woman cross her legs so a tease is good but need some relief. Real men like a whole host of erotica but I like the porn we have today. Wayne In Dallas
Word. The whole thing just sounded bitter. It always disappoints me when I read responses like that, as it forces me to question whether I'm too optimistic about the ways in which porn/erotica consumers interact with their chosen genre. Well, maybe I am in the grand scheme of things, but there are always a few people around here that say exactly what was on my mind, and restore my faith a little. Back to the topic at hand - it seems as though audiences get split over softcore/hardcore (and I think sexploitation counts as a third term, different from softcore) as though they are either on a continuum or are mutually exclusive. Aside from the interesting questions these dichotomies raise, I wonder why we can't see them a distinct genres that we can appreciate on their own terms...
I love softcore movies. Sometimes I want it soft, sometimes harder, but even in my hardcore I like a proper setup or some storyline. "Some sweet young thing walking down the street and two minutes later a guy is piling a big one in her ass", that's the kind of pormovie I hate. Jacco

Yeah, remember all that blood in Lorna, Mudhoney, Faster Pussycat Kill, Kill!, Supervixens, Mondo Topless. I think the only Meyer films I can recall with bloody scenes are Beneath the Valley of the Ultravixens and Up!
I love softcore quite a bit . . . just never enough to pay for it. But sometimes I just need a bit of sweet, sexy skin without sex- a striptease or sexy dance, or making out and foreplay without the fucking.
Properly done, tease is one of life's most sublime pleasures. All that erotic tension building? It's what makes flirtation fun - the setup, the hook, the drawing in, the interplay, verbal and nonverbal clues and cues, request and acknowledgment, push and pull, cat and mouse - it's fun. It's real human connection. Yeah, so is piling a big one in some girl's ass, I know, but a lot more subtle. There's all the hardcore, balls to the wall, all-sex no setup porn you could possibly want out there, so if that's what you want, then great - some days you just want a baloney sandwich and you want it now and nothing else will do. But show me a hottie and a bottle of baby oil, and let me watch her pour it all over herself while she looks straight into the camera and says "cobalt, I can't wait to feel my slick, smooth body sliding against you, get my slippery titties wrapped around your hard, throbbing dick - don't you want me, Coby, well .. do ya?" Fuck yeah, I do! I have a penis and a pulse, don't I? Yeah...make me want it until I'm ready to reach into the screen and pull her right out into the room. Unfortunately, it takes much more effort to achieve real eroticism than it does to put a camera on some dude piling a big one in some girl's ass for 20 minutes and then coming all over her face. So, while you can get all the baloney sandwiches you want, some days you want the fucking seared ahi tuna with horseradish lime mustard and grilled asparagus and a nice Australian shiraz, but nobody is fucking serving that, and you know why? Because baloney is cheap and easy, and the good stuff takes time and effort, that's why. But oh, the good stuff, when you get it - you savor every bite. I would love to see more good tease and flirt, bump and tickle, clothing and setting and dialogue driven stuff. But who is making that and not making it fucking boring? Anyone?
Skinemax was were it was at growing up. Kira Reed, Tane McClure, Nikki Fritz, Monique Parent, Kim Dawson and Krista Allen are forever in the spank bank. Shannon Tweed rules them all!
Amen I'd much rather watch a soft tease than see some drugged out skank having her ass stretched seven ways 'till Sunday. Why so much porn is targeted to those who want to see the inside of every girl's ass, I will never understand...
No. You missed what I was saying. Softcore is a SIMULATED sex/solo scene. I.E., NO PENETRATION! A solo scene in which a girl runs the OUTSIDE of her pussy or rubs a toy on the OUTSIDE of it is softcore; simulated. She is not penetrating herself. However, if she inserts a toy/finder/whatever else INTO herself, it is no longer "simulated" as she is actually performing an act of sexual penetration = HARDCORE. Even if that's not where you draw the line between hard and soft, it certainly is where almost all distributors do. Any penetration of any sort and you have a HARDCORE film.
I'm only 20 and I love those films and filmmakers. Suffering indeed! I think junglew is just stressing that he's not really looking for good filmaking, but rather lengthy bouts of poorly photographed, though extremely explicit screwing, such as what one typically gets today. However, if you were so put off by the likes of the mostly good filmmakers listed above (and where alive in the 1960s/70s), why didn't you just go and buy some stags? They were usually nothing but screwing, and featured far more attractive people than are around today.

I totally agree with you there as I happen to be a softcore model. Good post!

Stop it, this is turning me on. lol I love me some pantyhose covered goodness.
Btw as for subject, I am all for the drilling, but the story before and after makes it even better.
Radley Metzger is a great example. Camille 2000 is a fine film and it is not hardcore at all (well unless you look really close at the background during the jail scenery me thinks). Yet the story is what makes Gaubert even more attractive (if that is possible!). I don't know why so many hate this movie, because I think it is very easy to get off on her.
And John gotta agree. The women looked so much more attractive when they weren't carbon copy silicone assembly line. Don't get me wrong, women are still attractive today, but it seems the acting and gag "gluck" "gluck" "gluck" blowjobs stupid shit has gone through the roof. Give me some dressing and glamour over that any day! I mean seriously, has no one seen what a decent blowjob looks like anymore? I remember Ginger Lynn talking about how you have to worship the cock and put your all into it. Now we have women that quite obviously look like they hate what they are doing (see the after outtakes for proof) and no offense, are quite bad at it. It is like a vicious stupid cycle rinse repeat, rinse repeat.
Now am I putting down silicone or surgery across the board, NO, but the combination of it being all there is? The same goes for watching a gag blowjob. How about some finesse? Imagination? Anything PLEASE!
As for hardcore, well Radley obviously delivers in that department too. The Opening of Misty Beethoven is the Pet Sounds of porn for me.
I will never forget an early softcore called "Sweet Sickness". The billboard out front made it sound very nasty. It lasted about an hour. The entire movie was a close up of a woman's face supposedly having an orgasm. The loud sound of a vibrator played continuously. No dialogue, no other performers, no body shots. The most boring junk I've ever seen, probably cost about $300 to produce. Camille 2000 was a distant 2nd. On the other hand, I always thought Irv Klaw stuff and old burlesque flicks were hot. Betty Page in bra and panties never got old.
I've liked some of Joe Sarno's softcore productions:
Abigail Lesley Is Back in Town (1974)
Confessions of Young American Housewife (1974)
and
Misty (1975)

I'd say that the recent success of onlyfans (not to mention the japanese gravure idol scene) where many of the most successful women barely go further than nudity shows that there is (and likely always was) a good market for softcore pornography.
IMO it's the likes of playboy & cheap skinemaxers that consistently bungled it for the past couple of decades.
The directing and acting isn't good but Kira Reed is awesome in it, as her acting isn't that bad. And the opening sex scene on the office table is perfect.
