I'm not sex industry and so had no contacts in that space but back in 2019, after a double bill of Zac And Mirri Make A Porno and a Metzger movie I said to my partner, 'hey we should make a proper 70s style narrative porno movie'. Fortunately she's of a sort that is very open minded about these things and said "sure why not?' And so began a lengthy oddyssey that we've only just completed recently.

The film is called A Love Electric and it's a narrative porno in the sense that a Metzger movie was narrative based. No 20-30 minute sex scenes or anything of that sort. It's much more based in character and humour. It's a Sci-Fi, RomCom about a couple who fuck up their relationship when they start playing around with sexbots. He falls in love with his, while she goes off a nymphomaniac sexathon with hers.

This is an Australian film and we don't really have a sex film industry here so we were originally scheduled to shoot the film in LA in April 2020. The date there will be a clue as to why that didn't go forward. We spent a full year of preproduction putting this togethr to shoot with an All Star LA cast and then the whole thing got cancelled due to Covid. Ron Jeremy still owes me $600...

There was a long gap in between while we financially recovered from that cockup and then we remounted as an all Australian production. We don't really have a lot of on screen talent here so it was cast by cold calling escorts and seeing if they'd be interested. "hey you don't know me but I'm making a porno and-". You can imagine that's an incredibly difficult way to cast. Expensive too. Escorts charge a lot more than porn stars. But I eventually got a cast together. It was just about everyones first time acting and it was my first time shooting sex but we got the shoot done in 7 days.
