I remember Taylor being really fun that day. I had worked with her for Private a few days prior to the Baker's Dozen shoot and she was very kind to me. I asked her what it would take to make the shoot happen and we worked things out. She and Julian had great chemistry together and the group stuff was a little overwhelming for her at first. The cost can vary a lot depending on talent, locations, etc. I only say what my circumstances are for anyone who is wondering why I don't make 40 or 50 load updates. What is to stop groups of interested raincoaters getting together as a consortium to commission and fund porn that wouldn't other wise get made for the reasons Brandon outlines? ADT or similar communities might be a good place to find individuals passionate about the product who are frustrated that the studios are not making what thy want to see, but willing to invest a few hundred or a few thousand for a share in a production which would at least give them what they want to see, but in all likelihood make a return. Investors would no doubt get privileges to attend the shoot, meet the stars etc. Brandon, you could put together a budget, say for a new edition of Baker's Dozen (or whatever), cast either to appeal the tastes of the commissioning consortium or the wider porn-buying public, that budget to include your own expected earnings (as a one off fee rather than as a stream of royalties) and either sell shares in the project or invites bid from individuals or groups of interested parties. That's how some independent mainstream movies get made, isn't it? In time, with the correct business advice, that could turn into a porn studio owned by the viewers, or a studio owned by you but producing bespoke product, commissioned by the consumers. Low risk to the producer, because the movie doesn't get made until costs are covered. Potentially profitable, especially if it gives the buying public the product that they want, but weren't getting due to the structure of the current studio system. As a guide, what would a new edition of Bakers Dozen cost, all in, including return for the producer/director? Who here would chip in a share of the cost to get it made?
This idea is doomed to fail, I think, because it just gets too damn complicated. Distribution is by far the most important factor. If I wasn't an idiot, I would be trying to do more and learn more. There are just too many shiny objects distracting me all the time. Seriously, the risks far outweigh the rewards. Keep your money in your pocket. Your sock is good, too, but I would stick with the pocket. Right or left....or even back pocket. Makes no difference. And large bills. They take up less space. Psychologically, people are more hesistant to break a large bill so it reduces your impulse spending. I'm not really answering the question, am I? What was the question? Seriously, though, go with a zippered pocket.
It breaks my heart to see it listed as DISCONTINUED on sites such as Orgazmik.com. Not sure how or why this happened but it emphasizes the importance of having good distribution. It's hard to make money if you don't have product to sell. For that reason and many more, I prefer to claim the official home of Amy Reid and Sasha Knox's classic scene as www.covermyface.com. It's never DISCONTINUED there.
Have you had any problems with the "new" distributor? Let me know, really. So far, they have done business completely on the up and up. No complaints. Two plus two equals four with them, not - 1,407.89.
