I was a regular user of my ISP's news server, but the company (Road Runner) shut it down! No more downloading of adult stuff for nothing! I'm looking for a new news server that allows downloading of pictures or videos from the alt.binaries.erotica groups and more for free, or if necessary a nominal charge. Anyone have suggestions?

Easynews.com used to be pretty good, though I have not been a subscriber for a while. I think they charge about $10 per month. They have a monthly download limit of 20 Gigabytes IIRC.

I'm very happy with Easynews, but they do charge.

If you want adult material and good retention, you're going to have to pay for it. Nobody is running a good binaries server for free. There might be a couple of free servers with some binaries but they generally have lousy retention, spotty connection, low speed and they always drop pieces of multi part binaries. In other words, they're useless.
If you really want it, it's worth paying a minimal fee for a good server without any hassle. There are quite a few services that charge a reasonable fee. Generally, if you pay for it, the service will probably be decent. But you're better off going with a well known service.

Giganews is great. I used them for like 3 straight years.

Look into TeraNews. I used to use them because they had a free version with limited retrieval. Great if you read messages, but gets maxed out fairly quickly for binaries.
